Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s latest decision could cause some aggravation amongst Wrexham fans, as they have already shown opposition to it.
Wrexham’s progress in the summer transfer window is set to continue, with Phil Parkinson keen to prioritise adding experience to the ranks.
Players in several positions have been targeted, with Lewis O’Brien notably being sounded out as a permanent option, although a move for the Englishman could cost £8million.
Free agents have been linked to Wrexham all summer, including Danny Ward – a former Red Dragons goalkeeper who looks set to return to the club.
Whilst most Wrexham fans will be keen to see Ward return to the club, some extra details regarding his likely arrival have sparked some division in the fanbase, with some now showing opposition for one clear reason.

Wrexham fans show anger at potential Danny Ward signing as Callum Burton is potentially left surplus to requirements
With Ward set to sign for Wrexham after he was made a free agent following his spell at Leicester City, journalist Nathan Salt reported that the club’s intentions were for the Welsh international to become Parkinson’s second-choice shot-stopper, whilst Arthur Okonkwo will be the No.1.
This decision has left many Wrexham fans asking questions over Callum Burton, who will likely be the club’s third choice, behind both Okonkwo and Ward.
Reacting to the news on X, one fan said: ‘Burton is better, what are we doing?’ This was followed up by another supporter who disagreed with the decision, having said: ‘Another example of how cut-throat football can be. Burton came in as number 2. Arthur got injured, and Burton came in and couldn’t see him being displaced from the number 1 spot. He then gets a season-long injury and comes back third choice!’
Fans continued to express their disappointment, with one suggesting that they were ‘Gutted for Callum Burton’, who was described by another supporter as ‘good enough’ in comparison to Ward, who they also suggested was a ‘waste of money’.

Callum Burton will likely move on after the latest Danny Ward update
With the news that Burton will slide further down the pecking order, it would be a surprise to see someone of his talents remain in such a position.
Behind the scenes, there may have been conversations between the Wrexham goalkeeper and Parkinson, with the manager not scared to tell his players if they are not part of his immediate plans.
It could be a case that Parkinson planned for Burton to be the second choice, but the former Hull City goalkeeper’s aspirations mean that he wants to be a No.1 elsewhere.
If Burton were to move on, it would leave many fans pondering whether the club got rid of him too soon.
In the back-end of last season, Burton was highly impressive, so to replace him with Ward seems to be a strange decision by the club.
