Wrexham stadium announcer, Steve Jones has confirmed that he is no longer part of the club in a statement on his social media.
After many years of being The Racecourse announcer, it has been revealed that Steve Jones has left Wrexham this week.
It is safe to say that the role runs in the family as Jones took over from his father. He has been with the club for many years ever since.
The man who has been ‘dubbed the voice of The Racecourse‘ is now no longer associated with the club.

What has Steve Jones said?
In a post to his Twitter page, Jones said: “Devastated to say I am no longer associated with
Wrexham AFC. I have no further comment to make.”
The statement was short and to the point and made fans immediately aware of the situation and what is happening.
Given the longevity of his and his dad’s time with the club, it did seem slightly abrupt. This is especially true since this statement came out of the blue.
This has seen many fans react to the announcement in a confused manner in response.
How have fans responded?
There have been many fans who have reacted in a baffled manner to this news on social media. They have all been replying to Jones’ original tweet.
Messages of support have come from both fans and various pundits who have been left shocked by the news.
Bryn Law who has featured on various news outlets was one of the higher profile names to reply to Jones on Twitter.
There must have been some form of issue between the announcer and the club as he replied saying: “That may be a long time coming!”
This insinuates that he won’t be seen at The Racecourse any more even in a fan capacity. The question is why? That appears to be something that won’t be made public knowledge.
The Fearless in Devotion Podcast has shared its opinion and sadness with Jones being removed from his role.
Referring to him as ‘THE voice of the Cae Ras’ just goes to show how much he will be missed.
This announcement has seen many fans question the direction that the club are going in with the new owners etc.
With that being said, this fan has suggested that ‘uncomfortable’ changes will be inevitable as the club moves forward and up the leagues.
The growth of the club is obvious to see even just with this message as it comes from a Californian fan.
It is clear that this announcement has upset some fans and has led them to question Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in some capacity.
This fan has suggested that ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ has painted one picture while in the real world, they are moving differently.
It must be said that these kinds of changes were always likely to happen but it doesn’t make them feel any easier.
