Wrexham and Birmingham have formed a rivalry on and off the field during the 2024/25 season.
Rob McElhenney, Ryan Reynolds and Tom Brady have seen Wrexham and Birmingham City’s fierce competition blossom across the current campaign.
American superstars McElhenney and Brady have exchanged words on more than one occasion this season, which have all been good-natured of course.
However, the battle on the field has been much more intense with both teams vying for a spot in the Championship come 2025/26.
But Birmingham beat Wrexham in 2024 and held Phil Parkinson’s men to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture recently.
Now, the Blues hold a 12-point lead over the Welsh outfit while still having a game in hand to play.
In turn, Wrexham can only realistically finish second in League One this term but must first overtake Wycombe Wanderers.
Wrexham fans want Birmingham City to win
Wycombe are three points above third-place Wrexham with a seven-better goal difference.
However, they must travel away to Birmingham on Saturday, and ahead of that game, fans of the Red Dragons have taken to social media to express their desire for the Midlands outfit to pick up the win while admitting it feels ‘weird’ to want their rival to succeed.
One fan wrote: “Feels a bit weird wanting Birmingham to win their next three games, but that’s how it is now!”
Another replied: “Beat Wycombe for sure, but I’m happy for Bolton and Orient to take some points off them!”
A third echoed: “The enemy of my enemy is my friend situation. Birmingham winning out the rest of the season is probably a net benefit to us.”
“Yeah. We’re not catching them,” another Wrexham fan claimed.
A fifth stated: “Absolutely spot on,” while a sixth supporter added: “The enemy of our enemy is our friend.”
And another Red Dragons fan wrote: “We won’t catch them anyway so also hope they win.”
Wrexham fixtures compared to Wycombe Wanderers
Before turning their attention back to the league, Wrexham face Peterborough United in the semi-final of the EFL Trophy and a win will see them meet Birmingham in the final.
They then have just a couple of days rest before playing host to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

On paper, Wycombe have a slightly easier run of games on the horizon but do have the toughest game in League One to contend with first.
