Wrexham will be looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat on Sunday afternoon.

Phil Parkinson saw his Wrexham side get their 2024/25 League One campaign off to an excellent start.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds watched on from the stands as the Red Dragons faced off with Wycombe Wanderers in their first-ever game in England’s third tier last week.

It was an impressive showing from the newly promoted side, who took the lead at the Racecourse Ground after just nine minutes.

Jack Marriott then scored a goal-of-the-season contender to double the home outfit’s advantage.

Matt Bloomfield’s men attempted to mount a comeback with two late goals but Steven Fletcher came off the bench to net a third, seeing Wrexham secure a deserved three points against Wycombe.

The Welsh outfit were then in League Cup action in midweek, suffering their first lost of the campaign.

Wrexham were beaten 2-1 by Sheffield United, ending their brief stint in this season’s competition.

Wrexham team news ahead of Bolton Wanderers

Wrexham came through their opening two fixtures of the 2024/25 season without any fresh injury concerns.

However, the fitness of a couple of players remains questionable heading into their meeting with Bolton.

The club’s 2023/24 top scorer Paul Mullin has undergone surgery and has been sidelined for the meetings with Wycombe and Sheffield United.

Their striker is expected to miss out once more on Sunday but is making good progress in his return to fitness.

On a more positive note, Parkinson suggested recently that Jacob Mendy may make his comeback this weekend, as per Leader Live.

He said: “Jacob is getting ever closer to being available for selection so we have got a good squad to choose from and we will think long and hard about the team for Sunday.”

Wrexham predicted XI vs Bolton Wanderers

As was to be expected, Wrexham made a lot of changes for their midweek League Cup outing.

Captain James McClean was the only survivor as Parkinson brought 10 new faces into the team to take on the Blades.

Sebastian Revan was praised by Parkinson for his display in the League Cup and could now be in line to start against Bolton.

Outside of Revan, the aforementioned Mendy could come into the fold as he steps up his recovery from injury.

Dan Scarr may also be handed his first league start for the club after his transfer from Plymouth Argyle earlier this month.

But aside from that duo, it is likely to be a similar eleven to the one that beat Wycombe last week.

Here’s how we think Wrexham will line up against Bolton on Sunday…
