Footballers understand that their careers will inevitably come to an end at some point; for most, it will be when they retire, while unfortunately for some, they are forced to retire young.

This means that they should always have another option should the worst happen or as they near retirement.

One Wrexham star who has looked toward their future once they retire is Kieffer Moore, who graduated from the Professional Footballers’ Association Business School with a diploma in sport directorship.

This is a future ambition for the Wales international, as he wishes to remain in football once he retires, as he has an interest in how football clubs are run.

This need to remain busy following retirement may explain why the 33-year-old has decided to take up a new role away from football before retirement, with Moore set to begin another job while he is featuring for the Red Dragons.

Kieffer Moore is now a professional landlord

The Wales international will be fully focused on his role with the Red Dragons, as Moore expects Wrexham to be a Premier League side eventually, with the striker hopeful to be a part of that.

However, as he nears the end of his career, he understands there is a need for other incomes and that there are other business opportunities available to him.

Moore is set to become a professional landlord after purchasing the Blair family’s buy-to-let property portfolio.

As reported by the Sunday Times, he is one of three current or former players involved in the purchase of flats that belonged to Oldbury Residential, a company founded in 2014 by the wife of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, Cherie, alongside her eldest son, Euan.

The others are Christian Ribeiro, a Wales international who represented Bristol City before retiring in 2017, and Jack Stacey, an English right back for Championship side Norwich City. Jay Puddy, a Mancunian property investor who advises retired footballers, is the fourth shareholder in the group behind the purchase, Performance Property Group.

Several footballers have invested in property

Kieffer Moore is not a unique case of a footballer looking to invest in property, with several other high-profile players doing so also.

Cody Gakpo is a landlord in the Netherlands, with his tenants having complained of disrepair, structural problems and vermin infestations, as reported by Landlord Zone and the Mirror back in April 2024.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has an extensive portfolio, while ex-Liverpool and England player Robbie Fowler is estimated to be worth at least £31 million, from investing mainly in BTL terraced houses and flats, according to Landlord Zone.

Moore may embrace this second job alongside his footballing career at Wrexham, knowing that this may be a great investment as he edges closer to retirement.
