Wrexham aim to end their season on a high by beating Stockport County this afternoon while Paul Mullin is eyeing up a record only achieved by Alan Shearer.
Wrexham host Stockport County in the League Two season finale this Saturday lunchtime.
The two sides cantered to promotion a few weeks ago as County sealed the title, but there is still a lot riding on this fixture.
Phil Parkinson‘s men are looking to break a six-year League Two record for goals scored at home, needing to score three against the champions to eclipse Luton Town’s 62 home goals set in the 2017/18 campaign.
As for Ollie Palmer, he’s motivated by manager Dave Challinor’s previous comments as they pipped Wrexham to the National League title in 2022.
Palmer isn’t the only Reds forward extra motivated by the fixture as Paul Mullin has a chance to equal an impressive feat this afternoon.

Paul Mullin can equal impressive Alan Shearer record v Stockport
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds captured Paul Mullin in July 2021 after he fired 32 goals in one season for Cambridge United.
The Liverpudlian has become a goal-scoring machine at the Racecourse Ground and as his fourth season draws to a close, he can enter elite company.
If Mullin scores against Stockport he will become the first player since Alan Shearer to have racked up at least 25 goals in four consecutive seasons across the top five flights of English football.
| Alan Shearer | Goals scored | Paul Mullin | Goals scored |
| 1993/94 | 31 | 2020/21 | 32 |
| 1994/95 | 34 | 2021/22 | 28 |
| 1995/96 | 31 | 2022/23 | 38 |
| 1996/97 | 25 | 2023/24 | 24 |
Remarkably, Mullin is already level with legendary strikers Thierry Henry and Harry Kane – who scored 25 goals or more for three seasons at Arsenal and Tottenham – but he can surpass them by netting this afternoon.
Paul Mullin’s incredible form
Mullin has given himself a chance to equal Shearer’s impressive record by turning into a goal-scoring monster in the business end of the season.
Having scored 10 goals in his first 25 matches in the league, the 29-year-old has now netted an incredible 14 goals in his last 12 appearances.
Parkinson’s men hitting a purple patch of form to secure promotion coincided with Mullin becoming an unstoppable force and if he can equal Shearer’s record this afternoon, he will etch his name even further into Wrexham folklore.
Hopefully, the Reds can end their season on a high and Mullin can achieve history.
