At least one Wrexham side has something to smile about following the weekend’s results, as Wrexham ladies obtained their first three points of the season.
After a thrilling 3-3 draw in the season opener and their first game back in the first division of the Welsh tier since 2016 – the women now have their first win.
This comes on a weekend where the men’s side were absolutely battered 5-0 by Stockport. At least the girls got the business done.
Here’s how the action unfolded.

Wrexham win 3-0 vs Pontypridd Town
Wrexham got their first win of the season away from home at Pontypridd Town – with the score ending 3-0 to the Red Dragons.
Goals from Amber Lightfoot, Lili Jones and Rosie Hughes were enough to cap off the win.
Four points in two games mean an unbeaten start in the Genero Adran Premier. They currently sit second in the table.
Steve Dale delighted with the performance
Wrexham women’s boss Steve Dale shared his thoughts after the fixture – it’s safe to say he was delighted with the outcome.
“We knew that Pontypridd would be a good team, they narrowly missed out on the top four last season, and they’ve got that desire to challenge again this time.
“The most pleasing part is making sure that we turned last week’s draw into three points with three goals and a clean sheet.
“The extra staff has allowed us to prepare for this sort of challenge and we have to give credit to the girls for the way they applied themselves on the pitch.”
“We’ve believed in the girls, and you have to give them full credit for the way they’ve performed in the past two games.
“They’ve prepared themselves in pre-season for this moment and we need to make sure we keep adapting to the challenges that we’re going to face this season.”
The girls have made a really bright start and will be looking to continue their fine form next weekend as they take on Barry Town.
