Wrexham’s all-time record goalscorers including Paul Mullin and and Karl Connolly

Wrexham have been blessed with many iconic goal scorers over the years, so The Wrexham Insider has taken a look at the ten record players with the most goals for the Red Dragons.

Whether it be the recent goals of Paul Mullin or the staggering records of Wrexham legends like Tommy Bamford, supporters have been able to witness some truly prolific goalscorers at the Racecourse Ground.

But when it comes to picking out the very best, it is worth taking a look at which players rank highest in Wrexham’s all-time scoring list.

10) Albert Kinsey – 100 goals

The Liverpool-born forward joined the Red Dragons in 1966 from English giants Manchester United. He would later become the first ever Wrexham player to score a goal in a European competition, after netting against FC Zurich in a 1-1 draw.

9) Tommy Bannan – 104 goals

Tommy Bannan would first make his name in his native Scotland before heading to Wales in a move to Wrexham. He would enjoy two successful spells at the club, scoring in the 1958 Welsh Cup final against Chester.

8) Ron Hewitt – 109 goals

Ron Hewitt enjoyed a very fruitful spell with Wrexham in the 1950s, even going on to earn him self a Wales call-up while plying his trade for the Red Dragons.

7) Paul Mullin – 110 goals

The most recent name on this list, Paul Mullin, has become an iconic figure at the Racecourse Ground since his 2021 arrival from Cambridge United. Joining Wrexham while they were in the National League, the Englishman’s goals have helped fire the Red Dragons back to League One.

6) Gary Bennett – 114 goals

Gary Bennett enjoyed two successful spells with Wrexham in the 1990s, whilst also featuring for rivals Chester City.

5) Graham Whittle – 118 goals

Undoubtedly a Wrexham legend, Graham Whittle spent 10+ years with the Red Dragons, scoring over 100 goals from the wing.

4) Karl Connolly – 122 goals

The Merseyside-born forward would become a fan favourite during his nine-year spell at Wrexham, making just short of 500 appearances for the club. He would be part of the famous 1992 team that beat Arsenal 2-1 in the FA Cup.

3) Arfon Griffiths – 143 goals

Known as the ‘Prince of Wales’ to Wrexham supporters, Arfon Griffiths would go on to make a staggering 721 appearances for his boyhood club. Following his retirement as a player, he would take over Wrexham as manager and lead them to promotion to the Second Division.

2) Bert Goode – 148 goals

Bert Goode would play for Wrexham over two spells, rejoining the Red Dragons in 1913, a year before football was postponed due to the First World War.

1) Tommy Bamford – 218 goals

Viewed as arguably the greatest player in Wrexham history, Tommy Bamford’s staggering record of 218 goals will likely not be beaten for some time. The Wales-born striker also holds the record for most goals scored by a Wrexham player in a single season, with 51 in the 1933/34 season.
