It’s been an exhilarating year to be a Wrexham supporter, with the Red Dragons fans treated to a second consecutive promotion and now in the midst of a storming League One season.
Phil Parkinson’s side are firmly in the mix for promotion up into the Championship at the first time of asking, producing some top-quality performances along the way.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney may look to add to the Wexham squad when the January transfer window opens, but the current crop of Red Dragons has provided the Hollywood stars with plenty of entertainment in 2024.
Let’s take a look back at some of Wrexham’s best performances of the year.

Wrexham 4-1 Barrow – 01/01/24
Where better to start than Wrexham’s first match of 2024? The Red Dragons welcomed Barrow to the Racecourse Ground with both sides entering the new year in the League Two playoff positions.
It was a nightmare start for the hosts when Kian Spence gave Barrow the lead inside a minute, but a lengthy stoppage gave Wrexham the time to score three goals in added time of the first half.
A brace for Steven Fletcher was turned into a hattrick in the second half, whilst Paul Mullin also chipped in with a remarkable free kick to give Wrexham the perfect opening to 2024.

Wrexham 2-0 Mansfield Town – 29/03/24
Whilst Wrexham were one of the favourites for promotion out of League Two, their third-place position at the end of March left them vulnerable to the rising play-off chasing teams below.
That made their clash with second-place Mansfield Town crucial, as a win would take Wrexham level with their opponents and six points clear of fourth. Despite only having 39% of the ball, a Mullin brace was enough to secure the three points that left Wrexham with their promotion fate under control.

Wrexham 6-0 Forest Green Rovers – 13/04/24
Wrexham sealed promotion from League Two in style against Forest Green Rovers, sealing Parkinson’s second consecutive promotion as the Red Dragons manager.
Usually, these promotion-clinching affairs are filled with tension as a team tries to scrape over the line, but Wrexham showed no nerves and were 4-0 up at halftime thanks to a double for Mullin, an Elliot Lee strike and an own goal.
Ryan Barnett added the fifth then Jack Marriott scored his long-awaited first goal for the club as the Red Dragons won promotion at a canter, potentially sending a warning to League One in the process.

Wrexham 3-2 Wycombe Wanderers – 10/08/24
After promotion from League Two, Reynolds said Wrexham could be promoted to the Championship at the first attempt which added a weight of expectation and pressure to the opening game of the season against Wycombe Wanderers.
Wycombe have become one of the Red Dragon’s key promotion rivals as the season has progressed, but the Red Dragons got the better of them in an exciting League One curtain-raiser.
Goals from Max Cleworth, Marriott and Fletcher were enough as Wrexham beat Wycombe to start the engines on what has become another promotion-chasing campaign.

Rotherham United 0-1 Wrexham – 19/10/24
Whilst not the most exciting encounter, Wrexham’s battling win away at Rotherham United showed the Red Dragons’ promotion pedigree.
After being relegated from the Championship in the previous season, Rotherham were one of the favourites to bounce straight back up. However, Mullin latched onto a Barnett cross after just 16 seconds to score the game’s only goal.
The hosts put pressure on the Red Dragons backline throughout the match, but Arthur Okonkwo and his defence stayed strong to secure the three points and cement Wrexham as one of the key contenders for League One promotion.
