Let’s be honest, the best part of the festive season has to be the football – and Wrexham are well and truly a part of that once again this year.

As 2024 draws to a close, and many will be tucking into as much food as humanly possible and drinking to their heart’s content – Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Welsh warriors will be hard at work.

After Wrexham’s 1-1 draw with Bristol, there is still work to be done this year. The Red Dragons sit third in League One – but depending on results could be top as the new year rings in.

So this begs the question, what are the fixtures coming up? Here is who Phil Parkinson’s side will be taking on this holiday season.

Boxing Day football is always a fantastic spectacle, and this year it’s Blackpool that are Wrexham’s opponent.

The Tangerines have had a really up-and-down season thus far, and find themselves sat 12th in the table. However, Steve Bruce’s side have been capable of playing some exciting football.

Nevertheless, with Wrexham at the Stok Racecourse, we can see them giving a late gift of a win to supporters on the 26th.

Wrexham vs Wigan Athletic: Sunday 29th December 2024, 3:00 PM

Just three days later – Wrexham are back at their home ground, and Wigan Athletic await them.

The Latics currently sit 17th in the league at the time of writing, with relegation certainly a looming possibility. For this reason, we expect nothing less than a Wrexham victory.

Barnsley vs Wrexham: Wednesday 1st January 2025, 3:00 PM

Happy New Year! Hope the lads had a quiet one because an extremely tough test at Barnsley awaits.

The Red Dragons only managed a one-goal victory vs Barnsley at the beginning of December at home thanks to a last-gasp Oliver Rathbone strike, so best believe the away leg is going to be even tougher.

The question looms – can Wrexham kick off 2025 with a bang?

Wrexham vs Peterborough: Saturday 4th January 2025, 3:00 PM

The final fixture of the ‘festive period’ takes us to the 4th of January, where Parkinson’s squad will take on Peterborough.

Posh have been in dire form towards the end of 2024, but their fortunes may have turned in the lead-up to 2025.

One thing is for certain, Peterborough do score goals, so it won’t be the easiest test in the world to round off the holidays.
