Wrexham picked up an important win on Tuesday night, beating Barnsley 1-0 thanks to Ollie Rathbone’s superb late strike.

Wrexham were in home action for the third game in a row as Barnsley made the trip to the STōK Cae Ras on Tuesday night.

Exeter City and Lincoln City were both beaten at Wrexham as Phil Parkinson picked up 3-0 and 1-0 wins respectively.

The final leg of this home triple-header arrived on Tuesday with Barnsley providing stern opposition.

The Tykes appeared to have secured a 0-0 draw withe neither side finding the big moment in front of goal.

That finally arrived for Wrexham in injury time though as Ollie Rathbone rattled home a brilliant strike to give Wrexham the win.

Paul Mullin reacts to Wrexham win

Wrexham left it late but it was some goal to win it.

Rathbone drove forward from midfield before striking a left-footed effort into the Barnsley goal, sparking wild scenes at the STōK Cae Ras.

There were big celebrations in Los Angeles too as Rob McElhenney and Danny Devito enjoyed Wrexham’s win.

Three wins in a row is an ideal response after defeat at Stockport County and Wrexham have closed the gap to Wycombe Wanderers to just two points.

This was a huge night for Wrexham and Paul Mullin played his part off the bench.

Wrexham’s goal hero has been struggling this season and finds himself on the bench at the moment.

Wrexham fans were impressed with Mullin’s cameo against Barnsley though, believing that he looked sharp as a substitute.

Mullin has now taken to social media to react to Tuesday’s win, offering just eight words to celebrate another victory.

‘Not over till it’s over at the Racecourse’ said Mullin, highlighting the never-say-die attitude in this Wrexham squad.

Mullin will hope to start against Burton Albion

Mullin made an impact off the bench and will be hoping to start against Burton Albion this weekend.

The Brewers are rooted to the bottom of the League One table and Wrexham will be looking for a big win on the road.

George Dobson’s suspension may tempt Phil Parkinson into going back to a 3-5-2 formation, dropping Elliot Lee into midfield and pushing another striker into the side.

Mullin would surely be in line to feature at that point, especially given his strong partnership with Ollie Palmer over the years.

Mullin hasn’t been at his best this season but a strong cameo on Tuesday night may just be the confidence boost he needs ahead of this weekend’s game.
