Wrexham are less than a week away from kicking off as a League One club with the new season now on the horizon.

Saturday’s 1-0 friendly win over Fleetwood Town brought the curtain down on Wrexham’s pre-season preparations.

Phil Parkinson can be pretty happy; the hammering of Hanley Town was followed by an unbeaten run in the United States.

The ‘Wrex Coast Tour’ brought draws against Premier League sides Bournemouth and Chelsea.

Wrexham then hammered Vancouver Whitecaps 4-1, so this has been an impressive summer for Wrexham.

League action is now around the corner though with Wycombe Wanderers the first name on Wrexham’s League One fixture list.

Dan Scarr on Birmingham City

Wrexham will have six summer signings in contention for the visit of the Chairboys.

Defender Dan Scarr is the latest addition after he completed a move from Plymouth Argyle on Friday.

The 29-year-old arrives on a three-year contract with Wayne Rooney deciding to let him go.

Scarr provides major experience and leadership in the heart of the Wrexham back line and he should play a key role under Parkinson.

The move also means that Scarr is in line to play against his boyhood club this season.

Scarr is a Birmingham City fans and joined the club from Stourbridge at the age of 2022 having impressed in non league.

Scarr only ever played once for the Blues though before moving on to Walsall, Plymouth Argyle and now Wrexham.

The 6ft 2in defender has now told Wrexham’s official YouTube channel that he can’t wait to play against Birmingham this season.

Scarr admitted his love for the Blues and believes that there will be a great atmosphere when the two teams meet at St. Andrews this season.

“I’m a Birmingham City fan, obviously they got relegated last season so it will be good to play them and I know it will be a good atmosphere there,” said Scarr. “They’ll probably let Wrexham take a load of fans as well, so it will be a good atmosphere from both.”

“I’m a Birmingham City fan and now a Wrexham fan, but I’ll be making sure we try our best to win, that’s for sure,” he added.

Wrexham and Birmingham City will continue to be intertwined

There will be plenty of eyes on both Wrexham and Birmingham City

Wrexham have the Hollywood ownership in Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds whilst Birmingham have been making waves with their own North American owners.

NFL legend Tom Brady is involved in some small way but Tom Wagner is the man behind some considerable spending.

The likes of Alex Cochrane, Alfie May and Willum Thor Willumsson have arrived with Birmingham splashing the cash after relegation.

Birmingham have also signed Marc Leonard, fending off interest from Wrexham in the process.

Reports in June suggested that Birmingham had requested to play Wrexham in the United States.

That was shot down but League One clubs will be looking to take down both Wrexham and Birmingham this season with the two clubs representing fascinating stories.
