Wrexham are preparing for their final game down under as they take on Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand.
Phil Parkinson will be demanding an improved display from Wrexham’s 2-1 defeat to Sydney, where his players were slow on the ball and sloppy in their defending.
Wellington have fired a warning to Wrexham that they will be bringing their ‘A-game’ to the contest and Parkinson will be pleased for the test for his players.
Upon return to the UK, the Red Dragons will then be turning their attentions to the Championship season opener at Southampton. The boss has revealed what his squad plan to do before that huge occasion.

Wrexham plan to play two more friendly matches before Championship opener
According to the Leader, Wrexham are planning on participating in two pre-season friendlies before the start of the campaign, with one being an ‘in-house’ encounter.
Parkinson stated: “When we come back, we will have a couple of days off to recover and that’s important. Then we’ll start the build up and that first weekend, we’re going to have an in-house game.
“After that, we’re looking to announce one game the following weekend.”

The friendly match will not be taking place at the Racecourse Ground however, given that the pitch is still recovering after undergoing a £1m revamp over the summer.
Parkinson explained: “The pitch is coming along well. Not being able to have a friendly on it is not ideal but equally, we want to give the pitch as long as we can to bed in.”
Wrexham need quality opposition ahead of Southampton clash
Wrexham have left it late to arrange pre-season matches with the majority of top clubs having their plans in place well in advance of the summer months.
It is clear that the Wrexham squad will need another competitive game before they take on Southampton but the opposition need to be of the required quality.

Last season saw Parkinson’s men travel to Fleetwood a week before their season opener against Wycombe and the Red Dragons could do with another similar test.
However, with the League One and Two campaigns beginning on August 2nd, Wrexham may have to look at options abroad again to finalise their pre-season preparations.
