£2m man may be gutted he didn’t join Wrexham after flopping at his new club with zero goals in four

Wrexham were linked with a lot of strikers before eventually landing two in the January transfer window.

A proper goalscorer has been hard to come by at Wrexham over the course of the 2024/25 season.

Despite netting over 100 times for the Red Dragons, Paul Mullin has now found the back of the net on just three occasions in League One.

Ollie Palmer has been similarly poor in front of goal and in turn, Wrexham did endure a rough patch that saw them give up second place in the division to Wycombe Wanderers.

That may not have happened had Phil Parkinson and co. landed a better centre-forward than Modou Faal over the summer, however.

Faal has improved in recent weeks but it remains clear the £590,000 man just isn’t ready to play regular football in League One.

Prior to signing the ex-West Bromwich Albion man, however, Wrexham were linked with a number of other strikers.

Wrexham wanted to sign Will Lankshear from Tottenham

During the summer of 2024, Wrexham wanted to sign Will Lankshear from Tottenham Hotspur on loan.

However, despite never really featuring at senior level for Spurs, the North London outfit opted to keep him for the first half of 2024/25.

Lankshear was sent off in the Europa League and only played three Premier League matches for a total of 10 minutes for Tottenham.

In turn, it didn’t come as too much of a surprise when the Lillywhites finally decided to loan him out in the 2025 January transfer window.

The 19-year-old, who set Tottenham back £2m, according to Sky Sports, moved to Championship outfit West Brom for the remainder of the season but things have not gone to plan.

Will Lankshear struggling at West Brom

Lankshear has scored 26 goals and provided three assists in 34 matches for Spurs at U21 level.

He even netted in Europe earlier this term, suggesting he was ready for a proper taste of first-team football.

However, since moving to West Brom, the striker has found the back of the net zero times in four appearances for the club.

The Baggies’ recent form is mixed but they are still in the race for a play-off place, meaning it should, on paper, have been a good move for the striker.

It’s still early days, of course, but had he been allowed to join Wrexham all the way back in the summer, things could have looked a lot different for the teenager right now.
