Decision just confirmed by Wrexham will have fans breathing a sigh of relief after Parkinson update

Wrexham returned to Championship action in midweek, taking on Leicester City.

The Red Dragons were held to a 1-1 draw by Derby County in their previous fixture.

That result means Wrexham are still eyeing their first home league win of the campaign.

While struggles at the Racecourse Ground persist, Phil Parkinson has seen his players at their best on the road this term.

Wrexham picked up their first win of the season versus Millwall before travelling to Norwich City and notching a 3-2 victory over Liam Manning’s side.

Next up for the Dragons faithful was likely a first-ever visit to the King Power Stadium.

Wrexham team news vs Leicester City

As has become the norm in 2025/26, team news was released an hour and 15 minutes prior to kick-off.

With Birmingham City just a few days away, it was expected Parkinson would rotate his team in some way.

Kieffer Moore and Issa Kabore were injured in the 1-1 draw with Derby, though the Wrexham boss did say neither injury was too serious.

For the Leicester match, however, Parkinson opted to start both players.

In fact, he kept the exact same eleven that began the weekend’s match against Derby County.

Wrexham worry remains

While it’s good to see Moore and Kabore fit, it remains to be seen how Wrexham will fare without the duo.

They can’t play every single game this season, and when they have to be benched or are injured, the Dragons are much weaker.

There is very little cover for Moore in the striker role, with neither Sam Smith nor Ryan Hardie having a similar profile.

At wing-back, Kabore’s been far and away the Dragons’ best option this season, even though he’s only played two games.
