Paul Mullin was exiled from Wrexham’s League One squad last season, and another player faces the same fate in 2025/26.
It was an interesting 2024/25 campaign for Paul Mullin, who had spent the previous three years as the Red Dragons’ most valuable player and top goalscorer.
Following the arrivals of Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez, however, the striker didn’t make a single league appearance after January 28.
His exile was not really discussed until Season 4 of Welcome to Wrexham, when Mullin spoke about Phil Parkinson trusting him less.
The Englishman had been a key cog in the club’s rise from the National League to League One but was cast aside earlier this year, and another man is being shown similar treatment in the current campaign.

Elliot Lee missing Wrexham Championship games
Like Mullin, Elliot Lee is a three-time promotion winner with Wrexham.
However, he has become the latest victim of the Dragons’ rapid ascent up the EFL.
Lee was Wrexham’s top goalscorer in all competitions last season, but is yet to make a single Championship appearance this term.
He at least made the bench in their opening four matches, but he’s since been completely absent from the Welsh outfit’s last five matchday squads in the second tier.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old’s chances of playing any league football this term will surely have decreased even more this week following news coming out of Wrexham about Ollie Rathbone.

Ollie Rathbone return bad news for Elliot Lee
Parkinson confirmed ahead of Stoke City that Rathbone is back in the Championship squad after a lengthy lay-off.
The manager has previously spoken about the midfielder being a key player for Wrexham and how keen he was to get him back.
Rathbone is a central midfielder who has enjoyed much success pushing higher up the pitch. He scored eight League One goals last term.
He’s expected to be a regular feature in the second tier moving forward, and will be competing with the likes of George Dobson, Ben Sheaf, Josh Windass and Lewis O’Brien for a start.
Lee was already far down the pecking order, but now that Rathbone is back, it seems almost guaranteed the ex-Luton Town man won’t play a Championship match in 2025.
