Ryan Reynolds’ private frustrations about Wrexham come to light as commitment to club mooted

Wrexham have had a slow start to life in the Championship and Ryan Reynolds is frustrated.

Rob Mac was inspired by Sunderland and their Netflix documentary to buy a football club.

After some help from Humphrey Ker and also bringing Ryan Reynolds on board, Wrexham were sold to the North Americans for £2m in February 2021.

Over four years later, they have taken the Red Dragons from the National League to the second tier of English football, making history in the process.

However, as many expected, the Championship has proven to be by far and away the Welsh side’s most difficult test yet, and Ryan is frustrated.

Ryan Reynolds frustrated by Wrexham

Reynolds was mocked by the media back in 2021 when he said he wanted to take the North Wales outfit to the top-flight of English football.

Rob and Ryan want Wrexham in the Premier League by the end of 2026/27, which is a pretty ambitious goal considering how their start to life back in the second tier has gone.

The Dragons have so far won two league matches and sit 18th in the table going into the latest round of fixtures.

Now, a source speaking to CEO Today has shared an insight into how Reynolds is feeling about Wrexham’s start to 2025/26.

It’s claimed that Ryan is privately frustrated but ‘fully committed’ to the club.

A source said: “Ryan is patient, but he’s also a perfectionist. He understands investment cycles — he built companies that way — but football is a different world. You can’t script form, luck, or goals.”

What Ryan Reynolds said about ‘getting bored’ of Wrexham

Despite reports of private frustrations, it seems unlikely Rob or Ryan will want to give up Wrexham anytime soon.

Since they became owners, rival fans have suggested the actors will eventually get bored.

However, Ryan responded to those claims when speaking on the Fearless in Devotion podcast back in May.

He said: “There are still people who think we are fading away or we’re going to get bored. I don’t know how you get bored with something like this.

“I have said this before, I love this sport so much now that I ——- hate it! I really feel that in my cells.”
