Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds should place a Welsh international on their Wrexham wishlist this summer.
Wrexham are used to their club being active in the transfer window. Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds attract interest from across the globe due to their profiles.
This places the Reds in a prominent position to snap up talented players, as seen with the additions of James McClean and Steven Fletcher last summer.
The Hollywood owners don’t want to rest on their laurels after reaching League One and have set their sights on the Championship.
And while the transfer window doesn’t open until June 14th, Wrexham have been linked with a handful of players, including a Wigan Athletic trio, Blackpool’s Marvin Ekpiteta and Notts County’s Macaulay Langstaff.
McElhenney and Reynolds should add a League One title winner and Welsh international to that wishlist.
Wrexham should snap up Joe Morrell on a free transfer
Joe Morrell is fresh from winning the League One title with Portsmouth.
A combative defensive midfielder, whose first thought is to break up play, Morrell played 27 times last term but didn’t feature at all from February onwards as he was sidelined with a knee injury.

Sadly, as Portsmouth make the Championship step up, the 37-cap Wales international is surplus to requirements with the club deciding against activating his one-year extension.
Pompey manager John Mousinho is keen on offering the 27-year-old a new contract, but as he’s currently a free agent, several third-tier clubs have been put on red alert, including Wrexham.
It makes perfect sense for Wrexham to snap Morrell up on a permanent deal as he brings so many sought-after attributes to Parkinson’s squad.
What Joe Morrell would bring to Wrexham
As a fully-fledged Welsh international and experienced operator at League One level, it makes perfect sense for McElhenney and Reynolds to snap the energetic midfielder up.
Although a trio of George Evans, Andy Cannon and Elliot Lee can hold its own in the third tier, Wrexham do need added depth, especially with the departure of captain Luke Young.
Morrell would offer Parkinson incredible versatility, as not only can he operate box to box, but he can do the job that Evans does where he sits in front of the defence and wins possession back.
As per Sofascore, the ‘towering’ midfielder ranked second for tackles won per game (2.4) in the Portsmouth squad and third for interceptions (1.1) while recovering 5 balls and recording an 86% pass completion.
It’s this level of quality that Parkinson craves from midfield as Lee’s capacity to produce the spectacular would be complemented by Morrell’s fearless and tigerish approach to defending.
Wrexham can snap up a League One title winner for free and if that doesn’t outline their ambition to challenge for promotion, nothing will.
