Ryan Barnett has now committed his future to Wrexham beyond the 2025/26 campaign.
A lot of the Wrexham transfer talk heading into the 2025 winter window has centered around Ryan Barnett.
The wing-back has been arguably the Red Dragons’ Player of the Season so far and has provided the bulk of their attacking threat.
However, his excellent form during the current campaign did begin to attract unwanted interest from clubs elsewhere in the UK.
Preston North End and Stoke City were keen on signing Barnett according to reports that emerged in October.
Given the pair are already playing in the Championship, some Wrexham fans may have feared the Englishman would opt to leave their club to further his career.
Those fears were likely exasperated this month when European regulars Rangers were linked with Barnett.

Ryan Barnett signs new Wrexham contract
However, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have now sent a very clear message to any potential suitors regarding Barnett.
This comes after Wrexham confirmed on Friday evening that the right-back has now signed an extension that will keep him at the Racecourse Ground until 2027.
On signing a new deal, Barnett told the club’s official website: “The atmosphere around the club is brilliant and I’m glad it’s something I get to be a part of for even longer.
“It’s a proud and happy moment for myself and my family.”
Phil Parkinson added: “We’re really pleased for Ryan’s new contract. He’s adapted well to life in League One and fully deserves his new deal.”

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds next Wrexham priority
Getting Barnett to commit his future to the club was a major priority for the owners given the transfer interest in him and his form right now.
But now Barnett is tied down for three years, McElhenney and Reynolds must turn their attention elsewhere.
Ollie Palmer signed a contract extension recently as well but there are still a number of Wrexham players set to be out of contract at the end of the current campaign.
One such player is striker Jack Marriott, who is currently out of action until the beginning of 2025 with a long-term injury.
However, before his injury, the 30-year-old was in superb form and remains the club’s top scorer in League One with five goals.
Wrexham do already have a lot of strikers on their books and want to sign another in January but it is clear that, at least right now, Marriott is their best number nine for goals and should be given a contract extension of his own in the near future.
