Rob Reynolds and Rob McElhenney can fix one key issue at Wrexham by sealing an ‘outstanding’ free transfer this summer.
Wrexham are in the market for several new players after winning promotion to League One.
Rob McElhenney has confirmed that the Reds are confident of landing goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo on a permanent deal despite lingering interest from several Championship clubs.
Phil Parkinson is also in the market for a new centre-back following the departures of Ben Tozer, Jordan Tunnicliffe and Aaron Hayden, seeing their pursuit of Wigan Athletic’s Jason Kerr fail.
Parkinson also wants a new partner for Paul Mullin, a midfielder to fill Luke Young’s void and a left-back to challenge Jacob Mendy.
The 56-year-old could fix one of them problems by signing a Championship player who could soon become a free agent.
Wrexham could take advantage of Louie Sibley’s contract situation
Wrexham are looking for a new left wing-back to challenge or take Mendy’s place in the starting XI.
This has sparked interest in Wigan’s Tom Pearce and whilst he’d be a superb signing, a move for Derby’s Louie Sibley would offer greater value.

Sibley is fresh from winning promotion to the Championship with the Rams and is currently in discussions over a new deal at Pride Park.
Rotherham have already shown interest in the 22-year-old on a free transfer, though Wrexham should join their League One rivals in that pursuit by launching a move of their own.
Wrexham aren’t used to signing younger players, however, Sibley would be a huge upgrade on Mendy in the wing-back role.
Louie Sibley is a perfect option for Phil Parkinson
Sibley started his career as an attacking midfielder but has since played as a winger, central midfielder and most recently, as a wing-back.
In Paul Warne’s 3-5-2 system, the “outstanding” Englishman is given license to maraud up and down the left flank, providing ammunition into the box for his teammates.
Sibley scored six and assisted six in all competitions last term and would fit perfectly into Parkinson’s 5-3-2 system.
As a left wing-back for Wrexham, Parkinson encourages them to push high and wide, so the Derby academy graduate would have great joy in the final third.
He’s everything you’d want in a player; hard-working, honest, technically brilliant with a wand of a left foot.
And in terms of first-team appearances chalked up for his age, they don’t much better than Sibley, who has played 80 times in League One and 173 in total for Derby.
To sign a promotion-winning player with immense versatility would be a coup for Wrexham and one they should explore to plug multiple positions.
