Wrexham could sign a ‘quality’ striker who scored 25 goals last season to partner Paul Mullin in League One.
The summer transfer window has now opened and Phil Parkinson will be eager to get some deals across the line.
Wrexham’s priority is signing Arthur Okonkwo – or a new number one in general – as the Reds currently have just Mark Howard and Luke McNicholas to choose from.
Parkinson also wants a left-back to rival Jacob Mendy, a midfield metronome to replace captain Luke Young, a towering centre-back and a striker to partner Paul Mullin.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have previously been linked with signing Notts County goal machine Macaulay Langstaff and promising Loughgall striker Benji Magee.
Though, there is another player making waves in the EFL who Wrexham could be after.
League One clubs want Danilo Orsi
Much like Mullin did for Wrexham with his 26 goals in all competitions, Danilo Orsi fired Crawley Town to promotion via the play-offs having bagged 25 times.
The London-born forward also laid on four assists as Crawley celebrated League Two glory alongside Stockport County, Wrexham and Mansfield Town.
Understandably, after proving to be an unstoppable force in front of goal, Orsi has attracted attention from multiple League One clubs.
That is according to journalist Darren Witcoop, who claims Crawley are facing a battle to keep hold of their “quality” striker as a number of third-tier sides queue up for his signature.
Witcoop didn’t name any particular teams in his tweet, although you suspect Wrexham could be one of the sides taking a keen interest in the 28-year-old.
Daniel Orsi could be the perfect Paul Mullin partner
Although Parkinson has seven strikers on the books at Wrexham after handing Steven Fletcher a new contact, he will be looking to sort out loan or permanent moves for Sam Dalby, Jake Bickerstaff and Billy Waters this summer.
That leaves Mullin, Jack Marriott, Fletcher and Ollie Palmer as options, presenting Parkinson with an opportunity to sign a long-partner for the Liverpudlian.
Palmer and Fletcher shared that responsibility last term, scoring 16 goals between them, though Wrexham could benefit from signing a more clinical outlet up top.
Parkinson likes to play a physically imposing and tall striker alongside Mullin and Orsi – who stands at 6 foot 2 – could be the perfect player to replace the ageing duo.
The 28-year-old is excellent at battling against strong defenders, holding up the ball and finishing his opportunities.
According to Sofascore, Orsi finished 25% of his chances last term, compared to Mullin’s 21%. He also created seven big chances and fired 1.7 shots on target per game.
There’s no wonder that several League One clubs are taking a look at the former Grimsby man, who continues to go from strength to strength in the EFL.
