Wrexham and Huddersfield Town share the same awful issue right now, outcome of upcoming game is glaringly obvious

Huddersfield Town host Wrexham on Tuesday night, and it seems both teams are struggling with the exact same issue at the moment.

Both these sides are challenging around the top of the table, but while Wrexham have ambitions of a top-two finish and automatic promotion, Huddersfield will likely have to settle for a play-off spot.

Phil Parkinson’s men have suffered with inconsistency of late, but they are now just two points off Wycombe Wanderers and could leapfrog Mike Dodds’ side this week if results go their way.

Fans will be eager to watch Wrexham take on Huddersfield, but we’ve looked through the form books and sadly, we think we will all be disappointed by this game.

Huddersfield Town can’t score at home – it’s been five games since their last goal

Usually, teams thrive at home and struggle on the road. That’s not the case for Huddersfield at the moment, though, as Michael Duff’s team have now failed to score at the Kirklees Stadium in the last five games.

Those failings in front of goal have seen the Terriers pick up just two points at home from 0-0 draws against Rotherham and Reading, while they’ve lost 1-0 to Bolton Wanderers, Birmingham, and Peterborough.

You have to go all the way back to December 29th 2024 for the last time Huddersfield fans saw a goal at their home ground, which is rather dismal, to say the least.

Huddersfield’s last five home games

This is their worst run of blanks at home since 2017, when they went seven games without a goal at home.

Wrexham and Huddersfield played out a goalless draw at the Racecourse Ground back in October, too. It was a result Michael Duff was happy with at the time, and he may well have to expect a similar outcome again this time.

Wrexham’s goalscoring issues make this one easy to predict

Huddersfield’s issues in front of goal right now make Wrexham look like a lethal outfit, but the truth is, the Red Dragons are struggling in that area, too.

It’s not quite as serious for Wrexham, though. Goals have been scored, at least, but they are sporadic and the days of free-scoring, free-flowing attacking football is now long gone.

In fact, you have to go back to the 23rd November for the last time Wrexham scored more than two goals in a League One match.

With the odd goal here and there, usually from midfielders or the deadly Max Cleworth, who is now Wrexham’s top scorer this season, we can’t expect this upcoming game to be a high-scoring affair by any means.

The likelihood is that we will see a 0-0 between Wrexham and Huddersfield tomorrow night. If anything, we might see the Red Dragons nick a 1-0 win to pile on the misery for Duff’s side.

But, now that we’ve said this, we’re probably set for a 4-4 draw as both teams look to prove us wrong. Honestly, we wouldn’t mind!
