Wrexham need to ensure their squad is as strong as possible heading into the second half of 2024/25 and next season.
Wrexham are flying high in League One right now, going into their New Year’s Day clash with Barnsley, sitting second in the division.
With the race for automatic promotion so tight, however, the Red Dragons will need to utilise their entire squad and potentially strengthen in January.
A new striker is on the agenda for Wrexham this month but there are also some more issues that need to be addressed in January.
The club should look to sign cover for Elliot Lee in the attacking midfield position, while quality backup for Ryan Barnett must be looked at as well.
Elsewhere, there are some contact decisions that need to be made now we are in January.

Wrexham could lose Aaron James and Harry Ashfield for free
Aaron James and Harry Ashfield are two of the hottest prospects at Wrexham right now.
James shone against Crewe Alexandra in the EFL Trophy recently, scoring the winner to send his side into the next round of the competition.
Meanwhile, Ashfield has been compared to Andres Iniesta by teammate Barnett this season.
However, both players are now in the final six months of their contacts with Wrexham.
This allows clubs from outside of the UK to sign the duo to pre-contract agreements, meaning they would leave the Red Dragons for free in the summer of 2025.
Losing such talented wonderkids would be a big blow for the club’s future and owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds must now act to get them tied down to fresh deals before a foreign side tries to snap them up.

Every Wrexham player out of contract in 2025
Wrexham have already agreed fresh deals with striker Ollie Palmer and Barnett in the 2024/25 campaign.
However, as well as James and Ashfield, there are a number of other names currently set to leave the Racecourse for free at the end of June 2025.
