Wrexham have a lot to thank their owners for after the Hollywood duo took control of the club in 2021.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have guided Wrexham to three successive promotions, taking the Red Dragons back into the Championship for the first time in 43 years.

Phil Parkinson’s experience and knowledge has been a major factor in the club’s success, whilst figures such as Shaun Harvey have also played a huge role behind the scenes.

Humphrey Ker’s influence on the club grew over time and the current community director once recalled a bizarre incident that almost landed Wrexham in trouble.

Humphrey Ker claimed dealing with Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac was like looking after ‘toddlers’

Speaking on Season two, episode four of the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary series, Ker expressed how he felt when he was put in charge of the club back in 2022.

Harvey was on holiday for a week and chaos then ensued as a birthday prank from McElhenney to Reynolds almost landed the club in trouble with aviation laws.

It was up to Ker with the help of Harvey from his holiday to sort out the mess and compared working with the Wrexham owners to looking after toddlers.

Ker stated: “You know when you’ve got a toddler and they’re sort of desperate for an ice cream and there’s like a busy road in front of them. Sometimes you’ve just got to like steer them towards the pedestrian crossing.”

Thankfully for Wrexham, the owners have a much more serious approach when it comes to footballing matters and the club are reaping the rewards.

Wrexham have plenty of unsung heroes to thank for recent success

Whilst the likes of Reynolds, McElhenney and Parkinson take many of the plaudits for Wrexham’s recent success, there are many figures behind the scenes that have contributed to the rise.

Harvey has helped navigate the club through the divisions using his experience and knowledge of the game and Michael Williamson is now taking on the responsibility as Chief Executive.

Williamson wants to improve training facilities and there are already plans ongoing to expand the Racecourse Ground with the new Kop Stand.

The club’s academy has also been upgraded as the Red Dragons hope that the next Max Cleworth and Harry Ashfield are just around the corner.
