Ryan Reynolds has had a significant impact on Wrexham since buying the club, bringing much success on the pitch and raising the profile of the club off it.
The Red Dragons owner has invested heavily in the team, as Wrexham spent £33 million this summer on signings and also taking time to improve the facilities of the club to breed success on the pitch, and this has seen him become adored by the club’s fans.
However, Ryan Reynolds understands the platform he has within the world and the influence he can wield, as the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ docuseries changes the perception of Wales to the world, according to Charlotte Church, while also helping increase tourism in the nation.
Yet, it was one charitable act from the ‘Deadpool’ star that had a significant impact on a child’s life.
Ryan Reynolds had a significant impact on Leland’s life
A social media account documenting the life and achievements of a child named Leland, who is a devout Blyth Spartans fan diagnosed with MDS cancer and in need of a bone marrow transplant, has thanked Ryan Reynolds and others for their impact on his fight.
It is three years on from when the Wrexham owner messaged Leland, inviting him to the Racecourse Ground to watch the Welsh side play Blyth Spartans, and it appears that his health is constantly improving, as he earned another judo belt this October.
While his message may have helped to have an impact on Leland, it also seemed to have a significant one on the health of the UK, as over 1000 people signed up to be a stem cell donor on the Anthony Nolan register, according to the ITV News report at the time.
Leland’s Fight social media page posted: “Three years ago Leland was fighting the biggest fight of his life. Needing a stem cell donor, we will forever be grateful to @JJODonnell23, @AnthonyNolan, @itvtynetees, @blythspartans, @Wrexham_AFC and of course @VancityReynolds raising awareness to get Leland his forever donor.”

Ryan Reynolds’ charitable attitude to Wrexham
The Hollywood celebrity has been charitable across his career seemingly; however, he has taken to helping those and raising awareness of issues since buying Wrexham.

It has been documented that he and Rob Mac established the foundation to fundraise for young people in the Wrexham community. The foundation focuses on health, education, and football to improve the lives of their participants.
While he has also publicly thanked charities like Gold Geese for their work with a young Wrexham fan who died from cancer and also backed the first Terry Fox Run in Wrexham, which raises funds for cancer research through The Institute of Cancer Research.
