Wrexham are interested in raiding Blackburn Rovers this summer, with two players seemingly on Phil Parkinson’s wish list.

Wrexham are gearing up for the Championship season, and Phil Parkinson will be delighted with the start to the pre-season.

Friday saw Wrexham beat Melbourne Victory 3-0 as the tour of Australia and New Zealand got underway in style.

New signing Ryan Hardie scored for the first time in a Wrexham shirt, and Parkinson will be hoping to make sure that other new faces arrive soon.

Parkinson has been speaking to agents while working in Australia, ultimately hoping to secure further signings ahead of the Championship season.

Wrexham tackle Southampton in less than a month, and Parkinson will be desperate to have more signings on board by then.

Blackburn Rovers boss may have boosted Wrexham over Lewis Travis

A number of targets are on Wrexham’s radar, and two of them happen to play for Blackburn Rovers.

Wrexham are interested in signing Lewis Travis, with the Blackburn captain viewed as a potential midfield addition.

Last week, reports suggested that Wrexham are also keen on Callum Brittain, with the Blackburn right-back a proven Championship player.

Brittain is now trying to leave Blackburn and pulled himself out of the pre-season win over Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

Wrexham will be following that situation with real interest, but will surely have paid close attention to comments from boss Valerian Ismael.

As we covered on Sunday, Ismael highlighted that Blackburn need to consider offers for players inside the final year of their contracts.

“The clubs need to understand that Callum is a significant player for us, for me personally as well. So we don’t want to let him go. But it’s clear that, financially, the club needs to make a deal because of his contract.

“If the players still have a one-year contract, we have to learn from the situation, what’s happened with Tyrhys Dolan. Now we’re chasing the situation after mistakes from the past,” said Ismael.

Ismael was referring to Brittain, but his comments are also relevant for Travis and his future at Ewood Park.

Brittain and Travis are both out of contract in 2026, and Ismael’s comments suggest that offers will be considered for both players.

Reports earlier this summer suggested that Rovers have not even offered Travis a new deal despite having just one year left on his contract.

Brittain now looks set for the exit, and Ismael’s public stance on those out-of-contract players will surely tempt Wrexham into a move for Travis.

If Wrexham come up with a strong offer for Travis, Rovers may well cash in – and Parkinson may yet want to push for a double deal involving Brittain too.

Wrexham’s midfield pursuit continues

Travis will surely remain on Wrexham’s radar amid difficulties in terms of signing midfielders this summer.

Wrexham were interested in signing Tommy Doyle from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Birmingham City won the race to sign him on loan.

Veteran midfielder Tom Cairney looks set to stay at Fulham, snubbing a hefty contract proposal from Wrexham in the process.

Wrexham are also chasing Lewis O’Brien, but reports suggest there have been problems over the Nottingham Forest midfielder’s wages.

The season is drawing ever closer, and Wrexham may well turn back to Travis as a top target to bolster Parkinson’s midfield, especially with Rovers potentially forced to consider a deal.
