Wrexham sanctioned most of their exits at the start of the summer window but two players could still leave the club before the 11 pm deadline.

It’s been an incredibly successful summer for Wrexham, who have significantly improved their squad following promotion from League Two.

The Reds made seven signings before the 2024/25 season kicked off while the addition of Modou Faal on deadline day was the icing on the cake.

Phil Parkinson spent weeks and months looking for a new striker and now, he’s finally got his hands on one, with Faal joining on a three-year contract from West Bromwich Albion.

Supporters can be pleased to see the 21-year-old in Wrexham colours but it does have a domino effect as multiple players could leave today.

Billy Waters could still leave Wrexham

Time is ticking for clubs to come forward but Billy Waters could still leave Wrexham on deadline day, as reported by The Leader.

Waters is yet to make a matchday squad this season and will need to leave the club to stand any chance of playing regularly.

Waters hasn’t featured for Wrexham in the league since August last year and sees his contract expire in 2025.

There is an acceptance that if the 29-year-old doesn’t leave this summer, he will depart on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.

The problem Wrexham have with Billy Waters

Following the addition of Faal, Parkinson now has seven strikers in his squad and while that is a blessing most managers don’t have, it is also a concern.

Parkinson is forced into leaving at least three or four strikers out of his side every single week, as he’s only allowed to name seven substitutes.

That has ramifications on the likes of Waters, who is nowhere near the level to be playing League One football but also have no interest in their signature.

Last season, he endured a disastrous spell at Doncaster, failing to score a single goal between them in 21 appearances.

It means that clubs, particularly in League Two, are understandably reluctant to sign the player as his stock is low.

Hopefully, one or two clubs make a late move for the Waters so that Parkinson can relieve some stress from his inflated squad.
