Wrexham have snapped up Nathan Broadhead, but may still look to bring in more attacking quality before the transfer deadline.

Wrexham have already spent almost £20million on new signings this summer, with Phil Parkinson completing nine additions so far.

Thursday saw Wrexham sign Nathan Broadhead, forking out a club-record £7.5million with add-ons potentially taking the deal up to £10million.

Broadhead made his debut as a substitute against West Bromwich Albion, and he may not even be the last attacking addition of the window.

Wrexham are keen on Liverpool’s Lewis Koumas, and could pounce for the Welsh forward in a season-long loan deal.

Lewis Koumas has a personal connection to Wrexham

Koumas is the son of former Welsh international and Premier League midfielder Jason Koumas.

While Koumas junior hails from Chester, his father Jason was born in Wrexham – and his family remain in the area.

As noted by The Telegraph, the Koumas family runs a chip shop in Wrexham.

Wrexham locals will know of the Everland Fish Bar on Market Street, just about a 15-minute walk from the STōK Cae Ras.

That is run by the Koumas family, which would make a move to the STōK Cae Ras very emotional, not just for the forward himself, but also his family members.

Broadhead was a Wrexham youngster as a kid, Danny Ward came up in the Wrexham youth ranks, and Kieffer Moore has been a regular for Wales on the international stage.

Welsh recruitment has been vital for Wrexham this summer, and that could continue with a move for Koumas.

The bond to Wrexham may be even stronger for Koumas than others, though, and it may just help Phil Parkinson win the race.

Wrexham may face Championship battle for Lewis Koumas

Wrexham were linked with Koumas earlier in August, and a number of other Championship clubs were named as being interested.

Birmingham City, Hull City, Norwich City, Preston North End, and Sheffield United were all credited with an interest in Koumas.

Liverpool need to find the right home for Koumas, who has already spent one season on loan in the Championship, having played for Stoke City last season.

Wrexham may view Koumas as a versatile attacking player, just like Broadhead and Josh Windass, with plenty of first-team opportunities to come over the campaign.

Windass picking up an injury against West Brom may just accelerate Wrexham’s push for another flexible attacking threat, and Koumas would fit the bill in terms of talent, availability, and a potential desire to pull on the famous red shirt.
