Wrexham welcomed two new faces in January as Jack Marriott and Luke Bolton both arrived at the club, however, Phil Parkinson missed out on a third target.
The winter transfer window was a chance for Phil Parkinson to bolster his Wrexham squad mid-season, which eventually concluded with the deadline day additions of Salford City wing-back Luke Bolton and Fleetwood Town striker Jack Marriott.
Parkinson was happy with the quality of signings that were made, describing Bolton as a “dynamic and a powerful player” while offering his excitement towards Marriott, who boasts vast experience at Championship and League One level.
Those two players will offer so much to the Reds in their pursuit of promotion to the third tier and represent two brilliant pieces of business, although they weren’t the only players who were on the manager’s radar on deadline day.

Phil Parkinson tried to sign Rotherham United midfielder Jamie Lindsay
Wrexham were chasing a deal to sign Rotherham United midfielder Jamie Lindsay on deadline day, outlining the ambitions of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
Despite playing regularly in the Championship for the Millers, Parkinson was keen on bringing the 28-year-old to the club.
The League Two side were willing to sign the midfielder for a record-breaking transfer, usurping the £300,000 fee that they paid to sign Ollie Palmer from AFC Wimbledon two years ago.
Unfortunately, they were unable to add Lindsay to their squad, but Parkinson was pleased with the business they did regardless and admitted the sparse amount of transfer activity had a knock-on effect.
“There was very little transfer activity across the board and that affected things in all divisions,” said Parkinson. “It had a knock-on effect.
“But the window was fine and we are pleased with the lads we have brought in and the squad we have got in place.
“If the right players became available we were looking to add to it and we were able to do that with Luke and Jack.
“There was the possibility of another player coming in on the last day, it didn’t materialise but we are happy with what we have got.”
Did Wrexham need to sign Lindsay?
Parkinson addressed the key areas of his squad in the window, offering strong competition at right-back and adding a proven goalscorer to their ranks with the signings of Bolton and Marriott.
The signing of Lindsay would have just been a huge bonus to the Wrexham boss, who boasts strong competition centrally.
If they were able to get a deal over the line, the Rotherham midfielder would have brought added class centrally to complement the goals of Elliot Lee.
Lindsay has featured for a combined 134 appearances across Championship and League One, so like Marriott, he is someone who is far too good for the fourth tier.
Considering he’s currently playing regular second-tier football, for him to drop down two divisions would have shown their ambition and strengthened their chances of winning promotion.
