After adding two signings to their squad earlier today, Wrexham could yet add a third on deadline day.

Wrexham supporters were treated to an early double deal this morning as Jack Marriott was captured from League One side Fleetwood Town and Luke Bolton joined from League Two rivals Salford City.

Phil Parkinson has strengthened his forward line with the acquisition of Marriott, who is a former League One Golden Boot winner when at Peterborough United, while Bolton has demonstrated he’s one of the best right-sided players in the division.

The 24-year-old has grabbed five assists in 20 appearances this term and will slot straight into the right-wing back role.

Those waiting patiently for a third signing to arrive will be pleased to know that Parkinson is looking to add another body to his squad.

According to the Athletic, Wrexham remain in the market for one more signing with a record-breaking deal for Rotherham United midfielder Jamie Lindsay potentially on their radar.

Wrexham could smash their transfer record to sign Jamie Lindsay

As revealed earlier, Wrexham are plotting an ambitious move for the Championship player and have tabled a six-figure bid which would smash their current transfer record, as per the RobRyanRed podcast.

That was broken in January 2022 when they acquired Ollie Palmer from AFC Wimbledon for £300,000.

It isn’t the first time, however, that the club have attempted to break their transfer record.

Wrexham attempted to sign Luke Armstrong from Harrogate on deadline day last summer, but despite sending the relevant paperwork to the English Football League to complete the transfer, it was not finalised before the 11pm deadline and the 27-year-old remained at Harrogate.

If they are to sign Lindsay from Rotherham, they will be desperate to avoid the late rush of the last window and ensure the same thing doesn’t happen twice.

Can Wrexham sign Lindsay?

The club are showing their ambition once more by attempting to sign a player from the Championship and although they aren’t yet aligned on a price, as per journalist Nathan Salt, one source has suggested that Wrexham are “close” to securing a deal.

It’s going to be a fight until the very last minute but it appears the club are positive about securing a deal.

That said, the 28-year-old has played in each of Rotherham’s last 12 Championship games and scored in the 3-2 defeat against Plymouth Argyle.

The Millers may be reluctant to sell a player who would play a key role in the squad next term with relegation to the third tier looking likely, though a six-figure bid would be huge for the club and perhaps too difficult to turn down.

It’s going to be a frantic end to the window as supporters wait and see whether the club smash their transfer record.
