Wrexham’s second summer signing is now on board, but Phil Parkinson already appears to be thinking about signing number three.
Wrexham snapped up Danny Ward on Tuesday, with the goalkeeper completing an emotional return to the STōK Cae Ras.
Ward left Wrexham to join Liverpool as a youngster, but is now back with his hometown club more than a decade on.
The Welsh international is Phil Parkinson’s second signing of the summer, just over two weeks since Wrexham signed Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle.
Parkinson has now added a goalkeeper and a striker, with a new midfielder potentially his next focus ahead of the Championship kick-off.

Wrexham plan club-record Lewis O’Brien bid
Tom Cairney looks set to stay at Fulham despite being targeted for a big move to Wrexham this summer.
Wrexham appear to be focusing on signing a left-footed midfielder this summer, but must move on from Cairney.
Reports on Monday suggested that Wrexham are ready to bid for Lewis O’Brien, and would smash the club’s transfer record to make a deal happen.
Wales Online now claim that Wrexham’s offer will be around £5million, more than double the price paid for record signing Sam Smith in January.
Reports claim that Nottingham Forest want £8million for O’Brien, despite his lack of football since joining from Huddersfield Town in 2022.
This latest report claims that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis may soften his stance on O’Brien’s fee, giving Wrexham hope of a deal.
The 26-year-old is a proven Championship midfielder from spells with Huddersfield, Middlesbrough and Swansea City, with Wrexham now keen to give him a permanent home following a string of loan moves.
Swansea City fading in Lewis O’Brien race
The report adds that Swansea would love to keep O’Brien after a strong loan spell in the second half of last season.
However, the finances just don’t work for Swansea, who seemingly won’t pay £5million or more for O’Brien’s signature.
That will be a blow for Swansea, but Wrexham can land a significant statement by swooping in to sign O’Brien.
Cardiff City’s relegation means the battle for Welsh supremacy in the Championship will be down to Wrexham and Swansea.
Wrexham have been well adrift of Swansea in recent times, but are now set to battle it out with them in the second tier.
Now in a position to snatch their loan star on a permanent basis, Wrexham can hit Swansea with a swoop for O’Brien – and stake an early claim to become the highest-placed Welsh club in the Championship this season.
