Wrexham saw Danny Ward leave the club for a move to Liverpool in 2012 but could bring the goalkeeper back this summer.
Wrexham are starting to ramp up the recruitment plans as Phil Parkinson prepares for life in the Championship.
The Wrexham Insider understands Wrexham have made offers to Craig Dawson and Aaron Cresswell.
Talks have been held with Ben Davies and Danny Ings, which has been backed up by Sky Sports.
Davies is still a Wrexham target despite seeing Tottenham activate a one-year option on his contract.
Parkinson will hope for movement in the transfer market this month, and a new goalkeeper could become a real priority.

Wrexham hold talks to re-sign Danny Ward
Sky Sports now claim that Wrexham are in talks to bring goalkeeper Danny Ward back to the STōK Cae Ras.
Ward joined Liverpool in 2012, having emerged through the Wrexham ranks.
Now 31, Ward has been released by Leicester City and is a free agent this summer.
The Wales international only started 29 games for Leicester after a 2018 switch and has now been let go.
Wrexham’s talks with Ward are thought to be at an early stage, but a homecoming for the Wrexham-born stopper could be on the cards.
Wrexham have just allowed three goalkeepers to leave the club with Mark Howard, Liam Hall and Brad Foster all moving on.
That could pave the way for Ward to come in and finally push for a Wrexham debut, more than a decade since first making the first-team bench.
Danny Ward move would show Wrexham are leaving no stone unturned
We were a little unconvinced when rumours of Wrexham’s interest in Ward first emerged.
Ward didn’t exactly impress for Leicester and was expected to go and be a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere having spent so much of his career as a backup stopper.
Wrexham have a settled number one in Arthur Okonkwo, and we can’t really see Ward taking his place any time soon.
The easiest decision would have been to keep Callum Burton as cover for Okonkwo, especially having performed well in limited minutes last season.
Wrexham are not taking the simple option, though, and seemingly want to raise the level of the squad in all departments.
Ward may be happy to take a second-choice role once again, and that gives Wrexham a set of three stoppers who can be relied upon next season and beyond.
Ward left Wrexham without a first-team appearance to his name and now has the chance to join this incredible journey under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.
Sitting behind Okonkwo may not be ideal for Ward’s international career, but a return to Wrexham could seriously appeal as Ward considers his next move.
