Former England international, Carlton Palmer has spoken out about Wrexham and their interest in signing Jonson Clarke-Harris this January.

The past week has seen Wrexham strikers come up clutch and have performed extremely well to help secure points.

Against Barrow, Phil Parkinson’s side were able to come back from 1-0 down to secure a 4-1 win at The Racecourse.

This saw Paul Mullin score a world-class free kick, while Steven Fletcher scored his first hat trick in English football. All three points went home with the Reds and was in main down to the productivity of their forwards.

This week has also seen Sam Dalby win the club’s Goal of the Month award despite not registering many goal involvements.

With all that being said, it appears that the club are still interested in signing a new striker now the January window has come around.

Carlton Palmer on Wrexham Jonson Clarke-Harris interest

Over the summer, Parkinson’s side had shown some interest in 29-year old forward, Jonson Clarke-Harris. Despite Peterborough wanting to let him go, he remained at London Road for the first half of the season, at least.

Now the winter window has opened, the rumours surrounding Wrexham and the League One bagsman have been revived.

Now former England international, Carlton Palmer has been discussing the United striker and a move to North Wales. Speaking with Football League World, he has opened up about two potential striker signings.

On that, he said: “Wrexham, going for back-to-back promotions, are interested in signing Lee Gregory and Jonson Clarke-Harris. They are both are proven goalscorers in League One.

“Both players won’t come cheap, but if they are retained by their clubs until the end of the season, Wrexham would have two gifted League One strikers and only have their wages to find, which won’t be cheap.”

It must be said that making a big money signing may not be possible in the January window and may be a summer prospect.

It is true to say that Peterborough had wanted to let their striker go. A move to Bristol Rovers was all but complete and fell through at the last second.

With that being said, Palmer still touts him for a move in January. On that, he added: “I can’t see Peterborough allowing Harris to leave for nothing, so Wrexham might have to stump up a fee in January if they want him.

“From the noise that is coming out of Peterborough, they’ve already rejected offers for him and won’t allow him to leave cheaply.”

It is unclear whether or not this move will happen or not but there is no doubt in the quality he has and how good a signing he would be.
