Wrexham are in the mix to sign Tom Lawrence from Rangers and the player is said to be flattered by the club’s interest Wrexham Insider understands.
Wrexham’s interest in Lawrence comes as the Red Dragons begin plans to improve their squad ahead of potential League One promotion.
Phil Parkinson will know that nothing is settled yet but owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will want to continue with their ambition to achieve Wrexham’s ultimate goal of Premier League football.
Wrexham’s transfer strategy of targeting players from higher divisions has worked well since the takeover in 2021 and with their interest in Lawrence that approach is set to continue in a ‘big’ summer ahead.

Tom Lawrence stance on Wrexham transfer revealed
Wrexham brought in Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez in the January transfer window alongside Ryan Longman to provide the firepower needed to gain promotion to the Championship.
Parkinson’s side are now five wins away from achieving that feat and will know the importance of strengthening once again ahead of the next campaign.
Lawrence is a Welsh international having represented his country on 23 occasions and is the calibre of player that can move the club forward.
TBR Football’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey told Wrexham Insider that Lawrence is ‘flattered’ by interest from the Racecourse Ground and there are other names on the list.
Bailey stated: “Wrexham are going to be going big in the Championship, not Birmingham big, but big.
“It won’t just be house-hold names (although we might see a few) but the right names. Like Charlie Savage, Robbie’s son at Reading. He has close connections with Wrexham given his dad is from the area and his grandparents and having some Welsh international calibre certainly won’t hurt.
“Tom Lawrence like with Savage, has ties to the area as they are his hometown club. I am told Lawrence is flattered by Wrexham’s interest and clearly it is an intriguing option, but nothing has been decided with him, he has a lot of options – but Wrexham certainly are in the mix.”
Lawrence’s Championship record
Players with experience in the Championship and above will be the targets of Wrexham’s recruitment team as they look to strengthen their squad depth once again.
Lawrence has previous experience in the division having made over 250 appearances with the likes of Derby County, Ipswich Town and Blackburn Rovers.
| Tom Lawrence Championship record | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Lawrence | 264 | 50 | 40 |
Wayne Rooney is a big fan of Lawrence after working with the star at Derby County and the Welsh international would certainly bring a goal threat to the Red Dragons.
However, any potential Championship signings will have to be placed on hold until the job is completed and next up is a tough away test to former Premier League outfit Wigan Athletic.
