Wrexham’s recruitment drive saw four new players arrive in the space of a week, and Phil Parkinson may not be done just yet.

Phil Parkinson has been a busy man of late, with Wrexham luring four new signings to the STōK Cae Ras over the last 10 days.

Liberato Cacace, George Thomason and Josh Windass made it a hat-trick of signings before Lewis O’Brien joined Wrexham on Thursday.

Wrexham are spending decent money ahead of the Championship season, but Parkinson’s recruitment drive may not be over just yet.

Reports on Sunday suggested that Wrexham are interested in signing Juan Camilo Portilla from Argentinian side Talleres.

The Colombian midfielder could bolster Parkinson’s engine room, and he is thought to be interested in a move to the UK this summer.

Wrexham can raid former Premier League hero Carlos Tevez

We profiled Portilla on Sunday, highlighting his moves to the United States and Chile before joining Talleres from America de Cali.

The 26-year-old has three Colombia caps to his name and has earned a reputation as a combative holding midfield player.

Wrexham could pounce with a £4million move for Portilla, and leave a Premier League hero disappointed in the process.

Carlos Tevez recently became Talleres manager, taking the job on July 9 after previous spells in charge of Rosario Central and Independiente.

The former West Ham United, Manchester United and Manchester City striker was a hero in his playing days, racking up 84 goals in 202 Premier League outings.

Now replacing Diego Cocca as Talleres boss, Tevez is still finding his feet in the job and could certainly do without losing a key player.

Portilla would certainly fit that description, with Wrexham potentially able to raid Talleres and Tevez for a major signing.

Wrexham could face Atletico Mineiro battle

Wrexham are not alone in the race to sign Portilla, though, and could face lofty competition from Brazil.

Ole report that Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro have been chasing Portilla.

Talleres have already rejected one bid from Atletico Mineiro, but the Brazilians are expected to return with another bid.

The report adds that Portilla wants to leave Talleres, and Atletico Mineiro will offer around $3million (£2.23million) for half of Portilla’s economic rights.

Whether Talleres accept that bid remains to be seen, but Wrexham may face a real battle for Portilla’s signature.
