Wrexham appear to have lodged a bid as they continue to look to sign a striker in the January transfer window. Stephen Humphrys appears to be the latest player targeted.
This season has been superb for Wrexham especially given that National League promotion was only secured last year.
Returning to League Two didn’t appear to be an easy task but Phil Parkinson and his side have done it with ease.
They are currently flying high at the top end of the league as they sit just two points off Stockport County in top spot.
There have been many standout performers in the Reds squad which have helped them fly up the league table. These have included star signings like Arthur Okonkwo, George Evans and James McClean who have all been superb.
Now it appears that the Reds are looking to make further additions to their squad as the January transfer window moves towards a close.

Wrexham make move for Stephen Humphrys
Although it has been a good campaign for Wrexham, where they have struggled at times is scoring goals. Or more so a consistent goal scorer.
According to FotMob, the two top scorers are currently Elliot Lee and Paul Mullin with 13 and 10 respectively. Bellow them is Steven Fletcher who has spent the majority of the season out injured.
Compare this to rivals like Notts County who have had Maculay Langstaff scoring 20 goals this season, there is a gulf. Now the Reds appear to be bridging that gap as they go after Stephen Humphrys.
In a report by TEAMtalk, they have outlined the move. On that, they said: “Wrexham have made a bid for Wigan Athletic striker Stephen Humphrys as they look to bolster their attacking options before the close of the transfer window, TEAMtalk can reveal.
“Humphrys is in the final six months of his contract at Wigan and League Two promotion hopefuls Wrexham are hoping to lure the powerful forward to the Racecourse Ground.”
So far this season the Englishman has seven goals and three assists in League One, according to FotMob. In theory, if he can replicate this form but better in the league below, he could be a great asset.
Humphrys is also a versatile option across the whole front line which could make him very useful alongside Mullin up top. He is clearly one of the preferred options by the Wrexham hierarchy this month.
On that, TEAMtalk added: “Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has made a new striker his top priority in this month’s transfer window and he has targeted a move for former Fulham man Humphrys.”
This move could kick-start the Reds’ January window and potentially inspire more incomings. He will add more firepower and will only improve the squad at The Racecourse.
