BBC journalist shares how Wrexham fans taunted Leicester City supporters during 1-1 draw

Wrexham fans were heard mocking the Leicester City faithful during their meeting at the King Power Stadium on September 30.

Phil Parkinson picked the same eleven that drew with Derby County on Saturday despite the short turnaround in fixtures.

Wrexham have been much better away from home this season, and that trend continued against the Foxes.

Leicester City, as most expected, dominated possession and, up until the final 20 minutes or so, had the better of the game.

But Parkinson, to his credit, came with a clear game plan and used his bench to great effect.

When all was said and done, Wrexham drew 1-1 with Leicester City – a positive result for the Dragons, though not so much for the recently-relegated team.

How Wrexham fans taunted Leicester City supporters

The introductions of Nathan Broadhead and Ryan Barnett in the second half proved to be inspired.

Barnett got the pre-assist as the £7.5m summer signing latched onto a Lewis O’Brien pass, rifling an effort into the Leicester net.

From there, it was the Welsh outfit who dominated and looked more likely to win the clash.

They had to settle for a point, but Wrexham fans who made the trip to the Midlands were more than happy with the result.

Now, BBC journalist Sanny Rudravajhala has shared how the Welsh supporters mocked Leicester fans late on.

The Dragons were in high spirits as they pushed for a winner, while the local fans began to depart before the final whistle.

This prompted the away fans to chant ‘We can see you sneaking out!’.

Leicester City result shows incredible Wrexham rise

While they have been in the Championship for over a month now, it’s still crazy to think how far Wrexham have come under Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

They were still playing National League football during the first half of 2023.

Yet their fans have now been able to visit a former Premier League champion and watch their team nearly come away with the win.

Leicester have top-flight level talent on their books, and 16-year-old Jeremy Monga is one of the brightest prospects in European football – a far cry from what the Dragons were up against just a few years ago.
