Wrexham and Derby County will meet at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday, September 27.

Phil Parkinson’s record against Derby County is not great, but Wrexham’s form has improved in the last week or so.

The Red Dragons secured their second Championship win of the season last weekend, fending off Norwich City to climb up to 16th in the table.

Earlier this week, the Welsh outfit beat Reading to advance into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup for the first time in over forty years.

That game also saw Wrexham keep just their second clean sheet of the season, but they are not expected to have the same joy when they take on Derby County.

Wrexham vs Derby County score prediction

Derby go into the weekend’s Championship action with just one win to their name.

The Rams are in the relegation zone, but they are still tipped to cause Wrexham problems.

Championship pundit Sam Parkin has made his prediction for the fixture when speaking to Benjamin Bloom.

Parkin expects there to be plenty of goals and for Derby to create more chances against the Dragons.

He couldn’t name a winner, however, instead opting for a high-scoring draw.

Parkin said: “I like the draw, mate, but I’m going to open it up and I’m going to say 2-2. I just think Wrexham are going to be involved in a lot of open games.

“I don’t think that’s going to change right now. I think Derby are going to be a good side in time this season, and I think they’ll probably make more chances on Wrexham’s goal than they’ve been able to do in recent weeks.

“But I think firepower for the home side. So, therefore, I think 2-2. Open, fair, not a bad point for either.”

Wrexham need Arthur Okonkwo to improve

If Parkin is right and Derby do create more chances, Arthur Okonkwo will be in for a tough afternoon.

In Danny Ward’s absence, the former Arsenal man has returned to the eleven but has struggled so far.

He was off his game in the 3-1 loss to Queens Park Rangers earlier this month and made two poor decisions for Norwich’s goals last season.

Callum Burton started between the sticks in the aforementioned cup win over Reading and played well.

Parkinson could well opt to hand Burton a chance this weekend. But if that does not happen, Okonkwo will need to tidy up his game.
