Wrexham are looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat to Southampton as they take on Hull City in the EFL Cup.

Phil Parkinson would have taken a lot of positives from the heart-breaking 2-1 loss at Southampton and have an immediate chance to get their season up and running.

Wrexham are expected to make a number of changes for the visit of Hull as Ryan Longman could make his first appearance against his former club since making his January move.

Conor Coady praised the Wrexham fans for their support during the trip to St Mary’s Stadium and the home crowd now get their first glimpse of their heroes this season at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham vs Hull City score predictions

As the Red Dragons look to progress into the second round of the EFL Cup, the match gives Parkinson another opportunity to give vital minutes to several members of his squad, whilst building some winning momentum.

Ahead of the clash, the Wrexham Insider writers have given their score predictions for the game as The Tigers are the visitors for the first home game of the season.

Luke Phelps – Wrexham 2-0 Hull City

“Expecting heavy changes from both sides tonight. But Wrexham now have good depth in their ranks after eight new arrivals and at home, I think this could end in a Dragons win.

“Despite the heartbreak of the last outing, I’m backing Wrexham to pick up a win in this one and progress into the next round. I’ll put Ryan Hardie down for a goal too. I’ll go 2-0 Wrexham.”

Jakob Barnes – Wrexham 1-2 Hull City

“How tonight’s League Cup game goes depends massively on what approach Phil Parkinson takes to team selection. One would imagine he’s going to prioritise the league this season, which means we could see a lot of rotation for Wrexham against Hull City.

“With this in mind, and with Hull strengthening significantly this summer, I fear we’ll see another defeat for the Red Dragons. The home crowd will make it a close tie, though.”

Jack Gallagher – Wrexham 1-0 Hull City

“Narrow wins is what Phil Parkinson’s side do best, so expect one on Tuesday evening. Wrexham more than held their own against Championship opposition in Southampton at the weekend, and I’m backing them to do similar against Hull City, only this time, converting that good performance into a win.”

George Light – Wrexham 1-0 Hull City

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Parkinson made a number of changes except from his back three to keep some continuity there, and enable Conor Coady to further stamp his authority next to Max Cleworth and Lewis Brunt.

That trio were outstanding against Southampton and they will be the bedrock behind a narrow win to give Wrexham a passage into the second round, I’m going for Ryan Hardie to score the winner too.”

Phil Parkinson will make his stance clear on players’ futures with team selection vs Hull City

Parkinson still wants to add to his Wrexham squad but despite the departure of Modou Faal on loan, the Red Dragons still have over 30 first-team players on their books.

With rotation expected for the clash against Hull City, Parkinson will give a huge indicator as to the futures of a number of players.

Ollie Palmer has been told to leave Wrexham this summer, but players such as Elliot Lee and George Evans will also be fearing for their futures if they are not given minutes against Hull.

Dan Scarr was also left out of the squad to face Southampton and it will be interesting to see whether the defender is given an opportunity in the EFL Cup, or he could be another player facing the exit door.
