Wrexham fell flat in Thursday’s derby with Shrewsbury Town, falling to a 2-1 away defeat at the struggling Shrews.
Well, we were hoping for a rousing derby day performance with Wrexham having nearly two weeks without a game.
Instead, it was more of the same on the road as Wrexham suffered yet another away day nightmare.
Wrexham fell behind as John Marquis beat Arthur Okonkwo at his near post, only for Steven Fletcher to find an equaliser.
Fans wanted a much better second half but saw Shrewsbury go back in from with Marquis adding a second, scoring on the rebound after Okonkwo saved his penalty.
Wrexham threw attackers onto the pitch but it was to no avail as Shrewsbury ran out 2-1 winners to aid their survival push.

Jack Marriott on Wrexham dressing room
Wrexham simply weren’t good enough; there is no getting away from it.
Phil Parkinson admitted that Wrexham deserve criticism for such a poor performance and he is absolutely right.
Wrexham have been poor on the road this season, claiming just 13 points from 12 away games in League One.
Wrexham are at least back at home against Birmingham City next week but a huge improvement will be required.
Striker Jack Marriott made his return from injury off the bench but couldn’t find a leveller for Wrexham.
Marriott has now spoken to Wrexham’s official YouTube channel and commented on the feeling inside the dressing room after Thursday’s defeat.
Marriott suggested that the feeling in the Wrexham dressing room is nothing but trust and unity.
The striker believes that Wrexham have a strong enough mentality as a group to bounce back and put things right, starting with Birmingham City next week.
“It was not the way we wanted to go about the game and not the result we wanted at all,” said Marriott.
“We have to bounce back from that now, we’ve done that many times this season, we’ve got a real strong group and there is nothing but trust and unity in that dressing room.
“We’ve got a good week ahead of us now to build up to the next game and we want to fight for each other and make things right,” he added.
Wrexham must find solution to away woes
Parkinson boasts a brilliant home record at Wrexham but that alone cannot secure promotion.
Wrexham still need more points on the road and the difference between the home and away record just isn’t good enough.
This is particularly concerning as Wrexham now won’t have a single home game in February.
The home clash with Leyton Orient has now been postponed due to their FA Cup commitments.
Wrexham’s February schedule now features away trips to Crawley Town, Port Vale in the EFL Trophy, Northampton Town and Mansfield Town.
If Wrexham don’t find a solution to these away struggles, February could be the month where automatic promotion fades away – and the Wrexham squad must find answers alongside Parkinson.
