Wrexham are quietly building momentum again in their promotion push after suffering a major setback in their 3-2 defeat at home to Stevenage in January.
Phil Parkinson’s side closed the gap on Wycombe with a late winner at Crawley Town last time out in League One, the hero on that occasion was Elliot Lee.
That was followed up by back-to-back wins in the EFL Trophy but Wrexham fans are not confident of beating Peterborough in the semi final.
Wrexham have already beaten Northampton comfortably this season at the Racecourse Ground and Parkinson will be desperate for his new strikers to score in this encounter against Kevin Nolan’s side.
The previous clash against The Cobblers will also spark special memories for one member in particular of the Wrexham squad.

James McClean produced two goals and an assist against Northampton for Wrexham
During that 4-1 win for Wrexham earlier on in the season, captain James McClean produced his best performance for the club.
McClean scored twice and produced an assist for team mate Jack Marriott in a resounding victory for the Red Dragons.
The skipper opened the scoring with a great header at the back post following a delicious cross from Ryan Barnett.
He then sealed the win with a wonderful volley across the keeper, the Northern Ireland international will be hoping to repeat his heroics when he leads the team out at the Sixfields Stadium.
McClean was pleased with Wrexham’s intensity during Northampton win
Speaking to Wrexham’s official YouTube channel, McClean was pleased with the intensity shown by Wrexham in the win over Northampton after it had been lacking in previous matches.
McClean stated: “Our intensity and our hard work, that’s what we’re about and it’s kind of been a little bit off in the last few games.”
Those words from McClean will ring strong in Wrexham ears ahead of the upcoming clash with The Cobblers as they know anything less than their best will not be enough against a team in good form.
Parkinson will know that every point is going to be crucial in the promotion race and three points at the Sixfields Stadium would be a great start to an intense run of fixtures.
