Wrexham are still seeking their first home win in the Championship after a humbling defeat at the hands of QPR.

Wrexham fell behind midway through the first half after a goalmouth scrambled cannoned off Conor Coady and the ball found its way into the back of Arthur Okonkwo’s net.

Richard Kone doubled QPR’s lead just before half time with a thumping finish into the roof of the net and pile more problems onto Phil Parkinson.

Kieffer Moore restored some hope for the Red Dragons glancing in from a corner but a sucker punch from Rumarn Burrell secured the points for the visitors. Parkinson did not hold back in his assessment of his side.

Phil Parkinson slams his Wrexham side as ‘too easy’ to play against after QPR defeat

Speaking to Wrexham’s official matchday live show via the club’s YouTube channel, Parkinson has slammed his side’s defending in the 3-1 defeat.

Wrexham fans were furious with their team’s defending during the first half and the manager shared the feeling of the supporters.

Parkinson stated: “Every goal you can do better as a team and it was too easy for them to play through us, the decisions in that build up play we should have done better.”

It was not just Coady and Okonkwo who struggled for the Red Dragons and Parkinson has called on his team to defend better as a collective unit and quickly.

Parkinson explained: “The key moments have got to start going our way with more tenacity in our defending, that’s the first goal and a more disciplined structure without the ball, which we have always been good at.”

Phil Parkinson provides positive update on fitness of Josh Windass

In some good news for Wrexham fans, Parkinson did state that he expects both Josh Windass and George Thomason to be available for the upcoming trip to Norwich.

Windass hasn’t featured since sustaining a hamstring injury against Sheffield Wednesday and Thomason is yet to feature since his summer move from Bolton Wanderers.

Both players would add some much-needed energy to the midfield area, which has also looked exposed on numerous occasions this campaign.

Experience and togetherness will be needed from Parkinson’s squad as they look to navigate these tricky early waters.
