Wrexham welcomed QPR to the Racecourse Ground in their first Championship clash following the international break.

Phil Parkinson was forced into a couple of changes from the victory at Millwall as James McClean and Arthur Okonkwo came in for the injured duo of Liberato Cacace and Danny Ward.

After looking the more dangerous side in the opening exchanges, QPR took the lead just after the half hour mark through a Conor Coady own goal.

The away side doubled their lead just before half time as Richard Kone fired past Okonkwo. Wrexham fans were furious with their team’s defending.

Kieffer Moore scored on his fourth consecutive appearance for the Red Dragons as he glanced in a corner from Lewis O’Brien to get his side back in the game midway through the second half.

Against the run of play with Parkinson’s side pushing for an equaliser Rumarn Burrell showed excellent pace to latch on to a long ball and lift the ball over Okonkwo to make it three for the away side.

Wrexham suffer another home defeat and fail to build upon their excellent result at Millwall before the break, here are the winners and losers from the Championship clash with QPR.

Winners from Wrexham’s clash with QPR

Kieffer Moore

Don Goodman highlighted Moore as a threat for QPR before the clash and the striker proved the pundit to be correct.

In a relatively poor Wrexham performance, Moore was a cut above his teammates with his hold up play and skill on show.

His movement was intelligent once again proved that his game is more than just being the target man to win aerial battles.

Moore’s fifth goal in four games for the Red Dragons got his side back into the contest, but it was in vain as yet more poor defending meant Rangers went home with three points.

Losers from Wrexham’s clash with QPR

Ryan Longman

Ryan Longman did not have his best afternoon in a Wrexham shirt. The wing back struggled on the ball and failed to make any sort of impact going forward for his side.

Longman is in a battle with Issa Kabore for a starting place after the Manchester City loanee arrived on deadline day and Longman did nothing to suggest he should have that spot cemented.

Whilst Wrexham did not defend well as a team, Longman looked lethargic and second to many loose balls.

Ryan Hardie

Ryan Hardie played his way into Parkinson’s first eleven before the international break with a couple of exceptional performances at Preston and Millwall.

However, the striker had an afternoon to forget as he missed a glorious chance to equalise in the first half but saw his effort fly wide of the post.

In the second half, Hardie raced clean through on goal following a clearance from a QPR corner, however, the forward lacked any conviction and confidence.

He dribbled away from the goal rather than straight at the keeper and the chance soon disappeared, not what Wrexham fans want from their number nine.

Conor Coady

An own goal can happen to any footballer, especially a defender. There was not a lot Coady could do about the opening goal as Okonwko’s save cannoned off his shin and into the back of the net.

However, there was something Coady could do about the second goal as he jumped out of defence and left his side exposed once again to Kone’s pace.

He was also left trailing on the break for QPR’s third as Burrell had just too much speed for Coady to cope with.

With reinforcements such as Dominic Hyam brought in on deadline day, Parkinson will be considering Coady’s ability to play up against such a pacey attack in the future.

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds was in attendance at the Racecourse Ground, however, he has now witnessed two defeats from two games this season in person.

He and Rob Mac were present for the 3-2 defeat to West Brom earlier in the campaign and Reynolds has now suffered the same fate with his latest trip.

Wrexham have based their rise through the divisions by having an impeccable home record and Parkinson must find a way for that to return if they are to have any impact in the second tier.
