Wrexham blew a chance to go top of the League One table after a dismal performance away at rivals Shrewsbury Town.
We are frankly sick of talking about Wrexham’s poor away record this season, but it’s just unavoidable.
Phil Parkinson boasts an incredible home record at Wrexham but away results just aren’t good enough.
Wrexham never really got going at Croud Meadow and deservedly fell to a 2-1 defeat.
John Marquis scored both goals for Shrewsbury with Wrexham suffering defeat after a 12-day break.
It’s now just 13 points from 12 away games this season for Wrexham and this could really damage the promotion hopes this season.

Phil Parkinson makes Wrexham promise
Wrexham are brilliant at the STōK Cae Ras but these away day woes just can’t continue.
This was a great opportunity for Wrexham to kick and claim a big derby day win – especially after nearly two weeks without a game.
That break may have actually left Wrexham rusty though as this was a completely uninspired performance.
Wrexham really have to step it up against Birmingham City next week and Parkinson has offered a promise to the fanbase.
Speaking on Wrexham’s official YouTube channel, Parkinson highlighted that Wrexham’s defensive record has been superb this season.
However, Parkinson is concerned by some sloppy goals being conceded right now and promised to put it right.
Parkinson believes that Wrexham have good enough players to eradicate these sloppy moments despite a ‘disappointing’ night in Shropshire.
“If you look at the season to date, our defensive record has been very strong,” said Parkinson.
“We’ve given ourselves great platforms to score late goals and win games, and we’ve done that by defending strongly as a team and not giving cheap goals away.
“Now, a couple against Barnsley and a couple tonight are moments we’ve got to eradicate from our game and we will do, because we’ve got good players but tonight was obviously disappointing,” he added.
Concerns across the pitch for Wrexham
It’s easy to feel like the sky is falling after a defeat – especially after a derby defeat.
This was just such a poor performance though and there will be concerns throughout the team after this display.
Eoghan O’Connell struggled in Wrexham’s back line and that may be one change Parkinson can make in his back three.
Wrexham had a real lack of creativity and dynamism in midfield and certainly seemed to miss the bite of George Dobson.
The goals aren’t coming at the top end of the pitch either and whilst Steven Fletcher is impressing fans, it’s a lot to expect a 37-year-old to fire Wrexham to promotion.
With two weeks of the transfer window to go, Wrexham may need to tee up some deals to help Parkinson get back on track and resolve these away day woes.
