The referee, Adam Herczeg, for Wrexham’s game against Mansfield on Tuesday could mean bad news for the Reds. His last game in charge of a Wrexham game ended in bitter defeat.
Wrexham face Mansfield on Tuesday night, and will be looking to bounce back from two disappointing results. The Dragons managed to salvage a 3-3 draw at the weekend after coming back from behind three times. New signing Steven Fletcher’s injury-time header rescued a much-needed point against Crewe. A week earlier the Reds were thrashed 5-0 by Stockport, meaning a win is vital in the midweek trip to Mansfield.

Referee for Wrexham vs Mansfield game spells bad news for Dragons
If Wrexham fans were holding out for a bit of good news before the match, they best look away now. The referee for the Mansfield Town v Wrexham game on Tuesday will be Adam Herczeg, who doesn’t have the best of histories with Wrexham.
This is Adam’s second season in the EFL and he was last in charge of the Reds in the 5-4 National League playoff defeat to Grimsby. That painful defeat, in extra-time, shattered Wrexham’s dreams of gaining promotion from the National League in 2022.
It was a sobering defeat for the Reds that day but one they would ultimately bounce back from. However, it’s clear Herczeg is far from a good luck charm for the Reds which could be ominous ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Mansfield.
In 7 games so far this season, Herczeg has issued 24 yellow cards and 2 penalties, so expect a card-happy affair in Nottinghamshire.

Wrexham face tough back-to-back away fixtures
It’ll certainly be a difficult trip for Wrexham; they’re currently ninth in League Two with 16 points while Mansfield are fifth with 18 points. Nigel Clough’s team earned a hard-fought point against Gillingham on Saturday and will be hoping to capitalise on Wrexham’s recent wobble.
Phil Parkinson, meanwhile, will be hoping his players can carry over the weekend’s spirited performance against Crewe into the midweek fixture.
After the Mansfield game Wrexham face another difficult away day against second-place Crawley Town on Saturday.
