Wrexham are set to face Wellington Phoenix in their final game of their pre-season tour down under.

Phil Parkinson is planning more friendlies upon return to the UK but as it stands, the clash with Wellington is the last chance to impress before the season opener at Southampton.

James McClean and Ryan Longman have undoubtedly been Wrexham’s star performers so far on the tour and Parkinson will be expecting the rest of his squad to follow suit.

After a lacklustre display against Sydney, now is the time for players to really stamp their authority and show the manager that they should be involved in the Championship plans.

Wrexham Insider gives you the latest team news and the predicted XI for the final clash against Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand.

Wrexham team and injury news vs Wellington Phoenix

There are a number of fitness issues that Wrexham have encountered whilst being away on this tour and Parkinson will not be taking any chances with the new season on the horizon.

Ollie Rathbone is in a protective boot for two weeks following an ankle injury sustained against Sydney, whilst Jack Marriott has had his appendix removed.

With those two players missing the clash, there is unlikely to be any unnecessary risks taken on Sam Smith, who is a little behind the squad in terms of fitness.

Ryan Hardie should be fit to return following a concussion sustained against Melbourne Victory and Modou Faal is in line for his first minutes of the tour.

Jay Rodriguez missed the first clash with a slight knock but came on during the second half against Sydney and is expected to have more minutes during the game in New Zealand.

Wrexham predicted XI vs Wellington Phoenix

Parkinson will be wanting to field a strong side against Wellington as preparations continue to ramp up for the new campaign.

He will be keen for players to continue to build partnerships with new teammates and reward those who have shown that match sharpness so far on the tour.

Arthur Okonkwo will return in goal having sat out the clash in Sydney, whilst Max Cleworth and Dan Scarr will continue their partnership at the back.

Elliot Lee will be looking to make an impact in midfield with Wrexham’s creativity and quality on the ball really lacking in Australia.

Meanwhile, youngster Harry Ashfield has caught the eye with his displays so far and will look to continue to provide some energy up top alongside Hardie.
