Wrexham are poised to set a new club transfer record with a deal for Empoli defender Liberato Cacace now in the pipeline.
Wrexham were expected to splash the cash this summer, and a new record signing appears to be imminent.
Reports from Italy suggest that Wrexham are poised to sign Liberato Cacace from Empoli.
New figures suggest Wrexham will pay £2.5million for Cacace, with add-ons potentially taking the deal up to £4million.
Cacace is a hugely exciting addition to this Wrexham squad, and Phil Parkinson will hope to have the deal done and dusted quickly.
Wrexham’s transfer record will now be broken, but one signing from earlier in the window is now looking like a major bargain.

Ryan Hardie looking like a Wrexham bargain
Wrexham swooped to sign Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle in June, adding a new striker to Parkinson’s ranks.
Hardie joined Wrexham for just £700,000 thanks to a relegation release clause in his contract.
That deal now looks pretty impressive, given the money being spent on strikers around the Championship.
Look through the division and you will see huge money being committed to goalscorers this summer.
Millwall have forked out up to £5million to sign Josh Coburn, as noted by The Mirror, despite scoring just 15 goals in 66 Championship games.
Derby County have splashed £7.3million on Charlotte’s Patrick Agyemang, according to BBC Sport, and West Bromwich Albion have paid £4.75million to sign Brann’s Aune Heggebo, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
These are huge fees for younger strikers than Hardie, but the Wrexham new boy has hit 22 goals in 77 Championship games.
Fans are well within their rights to get excited about foreign imports, but there is something to be said for having a solid, reliable striker at this level.
£700,000 is a mere fraction of the price Championship rivals are spending on goalscorers, and the striking market really sums up the bargain Wrexham have pulled off.

Wrexham could still add another striker
Hardie is a fine signing for Wrexham, one which may go under the radar but could pay dividends this season.
Hardie scored in his first Wrexham appearance against Melbourne Victory last week and has given a flavour of what he can offer moving forward.
The former Rangers man may not be the only attacking signing, though, with Wrexham potentially looking for other goalscorers.
Steven Fletcher has been released, Paul Mullin has joined Wigan Athletic, Ollie Palmer’s future is still unclear, and Modou Faal may need a loan move.
Wrexham may go for more attacking talent,t and both Josh Windass and Michael Smith are now available on free transfers.
Parkinson has targeted both players in recent times and may again go for bargain additions after landing Hardie.
