Wrexham saw their lead over Wycombe Wanderers be cut to just one point in the race for promotion on Saturday afternoon.

A late, late goal from Caleb Taylor against Stevenage gave Mike Dodds’ side a valuable three points in the race for the final automatic promotion place, while Wrexham could only muster a point against Wigan Athletic at the Brick Community Stadium.

Phil Parkinson‘s side are still in the drivers’ seat in second place, but will certainly be feeling the pressure heading into the final four games of the 2024/25 League One season.

Wrexham fans on social media were unsurprisingly disappointed with how results panned out on Saturday, and were keen to point out one thing that cost their side two points against Wigan.

Wrexham fans bemoan lack of shots on goal in 0-0 draw with week

For fans, the most glaring, and worrying, stat from the 0-0 draw with Wigan was undoubtedly the fact that Wrexham did not have a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes at the Brick Community Stadium.

Taking to X/Twitter after the game, fans were keen to vent their frustrations with the lack of attacking output from their side in what was a crucial game in the race for automatic promotion. Fans were even accusing the team of not ‘even trying to score’:

Thanks to the lack of quality in the final third, fans were once again keen to point to the need for Paul Mullin to return to the matchday squad.

Mullin was spotted in the away end with the Wrexham faithful on Saturday, prompting many fans to question why he’s not involved in games right now:

Paul Mullin has denied rumours of falling out with Phil Parkinson

Despite being the club’s goalscoring hero in the National League and in League Two – scoring over 100 goals for the Welsh outfit – Mullin has completely lost his place in Parkinson’s matchday squads of late.

Bar being an unused substitute in the win over Mansfield Town on February 23, Mullin has not even made a matchday squad since January 28 against Stevenage, despite scoring in that 3-2 defeat.

Rumours has expectedly swirled regarding a potential falling out between the striker and manager Phil Parkinson in recent months, however in mid-March Mullin was keen to dispel said rumours, taking to X in order to do so.

Having seen the forwards fail to register a single shot on target in the 0-0 draw against Wigan, and with two games in the space of four days just around the corner during Easter weekend, fans will be hoping that Mullin will finally be recalled to the squad very soon.
