Wrexham played host to Exeter City at the Racecourse Ground in a 3pm League One kick-off on Saturday.
Wrexham went into the game looking to put an end to a poor run of form that has seen them drop out of the automatic promotion places.
Phil Parkinson’s side had won just two of their previous five League One fixtures, most recently being beaten by Stockport County.
However, barring the 0-0 draw with Huddersfield Town in October, all of Wrexham’s dropped points had come away from home in 2024/25.
In turn, when they welcomed Exeter City to the Racecourse Ground on November 23rd, they were, on paper at least, favourites to come away with three points and gain some ground on Birmingham City and Wycombe Wanderers.

Wrexham fans all in agreement about Max Cleworth vs Exeter City
It took the hosts just seven minutes to take the lead on Saturday, with Max Cleworth heading in an Elliot Lee corner.
Cleworth now has four League One goals already this season, making the centre-back their second-top scorer in the division behind Jack Marriott.
After another superb showing from the centre-back in the 3-0 win over Exeter, Wrexham fans have taken to social media to express praise for Cleworth and also fear he could leave if they don’t get promoted to the Championship in 2024/25.
One fan wrote: “Going to say this now if are not promoted this year to Championship Max Cleworth is the number one player to be pulled by a trade to a Championship squad or elsewhere in Europe or EPL.”
A second supporter added: “Absolute baller. Championship clubs will be looking at him no doubt.”
A third Wrexham fan then stated: “We need to get Cleworth a new deal after Barny [Barnett].”
“Who needs forwards when you have Max Cleworth,” another fan wrote.
A fifth Wrexham fan wrote: “Max! More goals than Mullin this season.”
“McLean, Barnett, Cleworth…. Do we have the best attacking back line? Seems they can score goals as well as they can stop them! Up The Town!” a sixth supporter exclaimed.
A seventh fan then added: “Max really coming good with the goals for us this season, play-offs looking good.”

Wrexham may fear losing Max Cleworth
While fans are clearly in love with Cleworth right now, they are right to fear potentially losing him next year.
Ryan Barnett signed a contract extension this week after he received interest from the Championship and Rangers.
But with Cleworth still young and playing some of the best football of his career, it is surely only a matter of time before a top EFL side or two come knocking.
The 22-year-old is under contract until 2027 but fans would likely feel more comfortable if the stopper was tied down for even longer.
