Wrexham were denied all three points for the second consecutive league game, drawing 1-1 with Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
Wrexham drew with Cambridge United in their last League One fixture at the Racecourse Ground but knew a win against The Gas could take them joint top of the division.
Elliot Lee opened the scoring for the Red Dragons, but Lee picked up an injury in the first half and had to be taken off.
Despite this, Wrexham looked comfortable in the game before a lapse in concentration from Ryan Barnett saw the hosts equalise through Promise Omochere.
Whilst the result was disappointing, Wrexham fans could still appreciate the performance of Matty James, who provided a brilliant assist for Lee’s goal.
James signed a new Wrexham deal before the game and Wrexham fans took to social media to show their amazement over his crucial role in their side’s opening goal.

After seeing James’ defence-splitting pass for Lee’s goal, Wrexham fans took to social media to wax lyrical about the experienced midfielder.
One Wrexham fan said: “What a pass by Matty James,” whilst another added: “Matty James is some baller.”
Another fan said: “What an absolutely beautiful pass by Matty James, just curls it around and makes it so easy for Lee,” while a different Wrexham fan said: “Matty James with a Premier League quality pass, brilliant ball.”

James was in imperious form at the base of Wrexham’s midfield, with his assist for Lee just one of his strong stats from the game.
James won all three of his aerial duels in the game, whilst coming out on top of three of his ground battles. He also contributed five defensive recoveries as Bristol Rovers came on strongly in the latter stages.
The experience of the former Leicester midfielder is clearly proving valuable to the Wrexham squad and whilst they didn’t manage to seal all three points, Parkinson and his Wrexham coaching staff will be pleased with James’ contributions.
